Photo: Frank Thomas meets the next Big Hurt
Future hall of famer Frank Thomas recently met a 12-year-old ballplayer who can look him straight in the eye. Almost.
The first thing you should know is that the young ballplayer pictured below next to future hall of famer Frank Thomas (who, it should be noted, looks quite distinguished in his CBSSports polo) is just 12 years of age ...
You will observe that the young man, who is named Tommy Ben and who recently competed at the National Youth Baseball Championships in Memphis, is almost as big as the Big Hurt. In fact, young Tommy, who, let us remember, is 12, stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 200 pounds. Twelve years old, is what he is.
It bears mentioning that Tommy's team, the Central Florida Gators, reached the semifinals of the tournament in Memphis. In the process, he batted .385 with four walks, eight RBI and a pair of steals. So perhaps, in the years to come, we'll be hearing more from the Soon-to-be-Bigger Hurt.
