Photo of the day: Ted Williams, from above
You may safely assume that the great Ted Williams is about to crush this ball.
Via 90 Feet of Perfection comes this classic shot of Ted Williams about to do unfortunate things to an innocent baseball ...
The guess here is that the ball in question was ripped down the right field line with some measure of authoritative authority.
Anyhow, as 90 Feet notes this pic comes from Williams's book on his chosen craft, The Science of Hitting. You may be able to discern that Williams in the above photo appears not to have aligned his "door-knocking knuckles," contrary to what he so often preached and counseled. In point of fact, Williams in execution almost never lined up those knuckles, as efastball.com has so ably chronicled.
And now let us now ponder knuckles and the men of baseball who used the placement of same to great effect.
