Two days ago, Reds left-hander Aroldis Chapman was hit in the face by a line drive during a spring training outing. He suffered a mild concussion but avoided further brain damage. His eye is fine as well. It could have been a lot worse.
Chapman did have surgery to repair the bone around his eye on Thursday, a procedure that included the installation of some plates and screws. Here is the aftermath:
