Rays place Wil Myers on DL with sprained right wrist
Tampa Bay outfielder Wil Myers is on the DL with a wrist injury, the result of a Friday collision in the field.
Pictured above is what befell Rays outfielders Wil Myers and Desmond Jennings on Friday night against the Red Sox. Now, the Rays have placed Myers on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right wrist. To take Myers's spot on the active roster, the Rays have recalled 1B/OF Jerry Sands from Triple-A.
This season, the 23-year-old Myers is batting a disappointing .227/.313/.354 (89 OPS+) with five home runs in 53 games. Last year, Myers was voted AL Rookie of the Year.
The Rays enter play Sunday having lost five in a row and in last place. They presently trail the first-place Blue Jays by 9 1/2 games in the AL East.
