Red Sox reliever Andrew Miller needs foot surgery, is out for season
The Red Sox have lost another reliever to injury. This time strikeout machine Andrew Miller needs surgery and is out for the season.
After Saturday's injury, initial reports indicated it was feared Miller had a Lisfranc injury involving either bone or ligaments. Whatever has been discovered was deemed serious enough to need season-ending surgery.
So the Red Sox lose another relief pitcher. Closer Joel Hanrahan was lost for the season back in early May and left-hander Franklin Morales is currently on the DL.
Miller, 28, has a 2.64 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and a whopping 48 strikeouts in 30 2/3 innings (14.1 K/9) this season.
