Red Sox manager John Farrell has named right-hander John Lackey as his starter for Game 2 of the World Series against the Cardinals in Boston. Lackey will oppose rookie Michael Wacha, who was named as the St. Louis Game 2 starter earlier on Tuesday.
This season, Lackey, in his first campaign since undergoing Tommy John surgery, pitched to a 3.52 ERA, 116 ERA+, career-best 1.16 WHIP and career-best 4.03 K/BB in 189 1/3 innings of work.
In 2013 postseason, Lackey has a 3.00 ERA across one ALDS start against the Rays and one ALCS start against the Tigers.
