A trade that would have sent Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier to the Diamondbacks fell through when Arizona's ownership declined to give final approval on the deal, FOXSports.com reports.

The proposed trade involved Ethier and catcher Tim Federowicz heading to the Diamondbacks in exchange for catcher Miguel Montero and lower-level prospects. The Dodgers were also reportedly ready to kick in cash in the deal to help offset Ethier's contract. They'll instead continue to shop around for the right deal to help clear a logjam in the outfield.
