The Mariners are set to release veteran catcher John Baker from their Triple-A roster to make room for Jesus Sucre, according to the Tacoma News Tribune, which further reports that nothing is official.

The career of Baker has taken a decided downturn in recent years. He peaked with the Marlins in 2009, earning 373 at-bats with nine home runs and 50 RBI. But he batted under .200 in three of the last five seasons.
