Steve Dilbeck of the Los Angeles Times reports that franchise icon Orel Hershiser will return to the Dodgers as a television broadcaster. As part of his new duties, Hershiser will reportedly fill the role of the departed Steve Lyons, who most recently served as an analyst for road games not announced by Vin Scully and on pre- and post-game broadcasts.

Hershiser will be a major part of the Dodgers' forthcoming regional sports network, Sports Net LA. As Dilbeck notes, Nomar Garciaparra and former MLB Network personality Alanna Rizzo are also expected to be part of the new Sports Net LA lineup.

Hershiser, 55, won 135 games across 13 seasons with the Dodgers. In 1988, he was the unanimous choice for the NL Cy Young, and he was also named World Series MVP.
