As previously detailed in these electronic pages, the Padres are bringing in the fences at Petco Park so that it plays as something other than the most extreme pitcher's environment in the majors. Our C. Trent Rosecrans noted at the time that the most notable alteration will be the decision to shift the right field fence plate-ward by 11 feet, the height lowered to eight feet.

As you can see, it looks pretty drastic, which it is. In any case, this could be good news for the switch-hitting Chase Headley and the lefty-swinging Yonder Alonso
