Twins option opening-day starter Vance Worley to Triple-A
Twins right-hander Vance Worley is headed back the minors after getting cuffed around by the Braves on Wednesday.
After allowing eight runs to the Braves on Wednesday and seeing his 2013 ERA swell to 7.21, Twins right-hander Vance Worley was optioned to Triple-A Rochester. This is especially notable since the 25-year-old Worley was the Twins' opening-day starter this season.
Of course, the decision is understandable, as Worley, whom the Twins acquired from the Phillies as part of the Ben Revere trade last December, is striking out just 4.62 batters per nine and has given up nine home runs in 48 2/3 innings of work. This season, he's also logged just three quality starts in 10 chances.
The team has not yet made a corresponding roster move.
