Twins place Joe Mauer on 7-day concussion disabled list
After taking a few foul balls off the mask Monday and then feeling dizziness Tuesday, Joe Mauer has landed on the concussion DL.
Twins catcher Joe Mauer has been placed on the seven-day disabled list due to what the team terms as concussion-like symptoms. The club also notes that he was scratched from Tuesday's lineup after experiencing some dizziness during batting practice.
Mauer took a few foul balls off the mask Monday -- the same thing that has Tigers catcher Alex Avila on the concussion disabled list right now, by the way. Also, with the way that concussion symptoms derailed Justin Morneau's career, this has to be particularly concerning for the Twins.
Mauer, 30, is hitting .324/.404/.476 with 35 doubles, 11 homers, 47 RBI and 62 runs this season. He's one of the few bright spots on a subpar Twins team.
As a corresponding move, the Twins have recalled Chris Colabello from Triple-A Rochester.
