Long time big league utility man Jerry Hairston Jr. has retired from baseball, he announced on Twitter. "Game will not miss me but I will miss it and teammates immensely," he said.

Hairston, 37, hit .211/.265/.275 (54 OPS+) with two home runs in 96 games for the Dodgers this past season while battling injury. He spent parts of 16 seasons in the big leagues and played for the Orioles, Rangers, Cubs, Reds, Padres, Nationals, Brewers and Yankees in addition to Los Angeles. Hairston won a World Series with New York in 2009.

According to Bruce Levine of WSCR-AM and www.670thescore.com, Hairston has a deal in place to do pre- and post-game television work for the Dodgers starting next season. The team has not officially announced anything, however.
