Video: Bryce Harper joins softball game in front of the Washington Monument

Bryce Harper has been cast as baseball's next great villain, but it could be tough to keep that rep up if he keeps doing things like he did on Monday. After the Nationals returned to Washington from Los Angeles, Harper was checking out the Mall in front of the Washington Monument and happened upon a softball game.

So like Willie Mays in a stickball game, Harper joined in. And this being 2012, someone was there to video the experience:

According to Reed Sandridge (@ReedSandridge), Harper was shooting some kind of promotional video and the group playing softball offered him an at-bat, which, as you can see, Harper took them up on it.

The game was between the World Wildlife Fund Fighting Pandas and the Alliance to Save Energy Killer Watts, with Harper joining the Killer Watts, according to Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post -- and his team won. No team has been so lucky since Ralph Wiggum picked up Ken Griffey Jr., Wade Boggs and Jose Canseco.

Harper even misses one pitch, so maybe he'll see an eephus somewhere along the way.
