As noted, Twins top prospect Byron Buxton has a concussion after violently colliding with Double-A New Britain teammate Mike Kvasnicka in the outfield on Wednesday night. Given the severity of the collision and given that Buxton was unconscious for 10 minutes, things could have been much worse.

As you can see from the angle of impact, a serious injury for Buxton could have been even more serious. Thankfully here are some encouraging words from Twins GM Terry Ryan (source: Aaron Leibowitz, MLB.com):
"I don't know if I've seen a collision that severe in recent memory. But Byron Buxton's fine. He's alert. He has a concussion, so we'll have to take the normal procedure and protocol for concussion symptoms. He'll certainly be watched."
As for Kvasnicka, he escaped with just a sore hip.
Here's to a speedy recovery for both young men.
