VIDEO: Jimmy Rollins becomes Phillies franchise leader in hits
With 2,235 career hits, Jimmy Rollins is now the Phillies franchise record-holder in career hits.
Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins collected a single in the bottom of the fifth inning Saturday against the Cubs. It was no ordinary knock, though, as it was his 2,235th career hit. All of them have come in a Phillies uniform, too, meaning that Rollins is now the record-holder for the most hits ever in Phillies franchise history.
Rollins broke the record of Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt, who was in the dugout to help celebrate. Here's the footage:
That's a pretty cool moment for the Phillies, Rollins and their fans -- especially since it came at home and Schmidt was there. The cherry on top was that the Phillies won the game, 7-4.
