VIDEO: Trevor Bauer teaches you pitch grips
If the following action-video footage is any guide, then young Trevor Bauer knows a thing or about a thing or two about pitching.
So that was seriously cool. That's what, 10 or 12 different pitch grips? I lost count, to be honest.
It's also interesting that what Bauer calls his "reverse slider" is really a somewhat less severe screwball, which we haven't seen used to great effect since the days of Fernando Valenzuela and Tug McGraw. In a probably not unrelated matter, it's also the pitch that left Carl Hubbell's left hand permanently wrenched outward.
If nothing else, Bauer seems to take his craft seriously, and it speaks well of him that he's willing to share his abundant knowledge with those even younger than he. Consider this another reason to believe the Diamondbacks seriously erred in parting with the 22-year-old phenom.
