WATCH: Indiana makes strikeout into triple play
In the first game of the Vanderbilt regional, the Indiana Hoosiers had a strikeout lead to a triple play. Here it is.
The Indiana Hoosiers won their first game in the Vanderbilt regional Friday, 7-1, over Radford, and perhaps the most dramatic play of the game came in the first inning.
Radford actually started the game with two hits off Hoosiers ace Kyle Hart. Hart would get a strikeout and with the runner on first moving, things escalated rather quickly:
That's a pretty rare triple play, with any triple play being rare. The 2-6-2 triple play that started with a strikeout. I'll say I've never seen it before in any college or professional game, that's for sure.
Hart would end up working seven innings, only allowing an unearned run while the offense banged out 13 hits, including a double, two triples and a home run.
Still, the outcome could have very easily been different if that first inning triple play went down differently. A first-and-third situation with no outs is tough, as we all know.
