WATCH: Nice play, Red Sox ball girl -- too bad it's a fair ball
The Royals' Eric Hosmer hits a ground ball down the right-field line, and the Red Sox ball girl -- thinking the ball is in foul territory -- makes a nice play. Only one problem.
Only one problem, it was a fair ball.
She quickly realized her "error" and dropped the ball. Maybe she was hoping no one in the crowd, on the field or watching on TV would notice. They did.
Hosmer, the Kansas City Royals first baseman, was awarded a ground-rule double on the play due to "fan interference."
