Yankee Stadium cross street now named Rivera Avenue
The street formerly known as River Avenue that runs alongside Yankee Stadium is now Rivera Avenue, named after Mariano, obviously.
One of the cross streets to Yankee Stadium has long been River Avenue (the inspiration behind the blog of one of our great friends!). For convenience sake, it was nice that they only had to add one letter to it, no?

Back in December, New York City Coucil voted to rename the street in honor of baseball's most legendary closer, Yankees great Mariano Rivera. As can be seen above, Rivera himself was there for the unveiling Monday.
