Adrian Beltre: Officially retires
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre announced his retirement Tuesday.

The Rangers were open to bringing Beltre back for less money and in a lesser role, but the 39-year-old third baseman opted to call it a career. He sails into the sunset with a .286/.339/.480 slash line, 477 home runs, 3,166 hits and 84 fWAR, which is significantly boosted by his legendary defense at the hot corner. There is a good chance he gets voted into the Hall of Fame five years from now.

Adrian Beltre: Undecided on future
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said last week that he's been in touch with Beltre, but the third baseman has yet to decide if he wants to continue his playing career in 2019, T.R. Sullivan of reports.

Beltre will be a free agent this winter with the Rangers unwilling to extend him a qualifying offer, but the organization remains open to bringing the 39-year-old back at the right price if he's interested. in returning to Texas. Injuries have hampered Beltre in both of the past two seasons, so expect him to handle a part-time role at third base and/or log more extensive time at designated hitter in 2019 if he elects to join an American League club this offseason.

Rangers' Adrian Beltre: Back in action Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre (hip) returns to the lineup Friday against the Mariners, hitting fourth as the designated hitter.

Beltre sat out Thursday's contest due to a lingering hip injury, but the issue was apparently a minor one as he missed just a single day. He's expected to play in each of the final three games of the season, games which could be the final ones of the 39-year-old's career.

Rangers' Adrian Beltre: Out Thursday with hip issue
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre was held out Thursday against Seattle due to a lingering hip injury, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Although the Rangers are well out of playoff contention, interim manager Don Wakamatsu said he's hoping Beltre will manage to play in the final three games of the regular season. Beltre will be considered day-to-day moving forward.

by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre is not in the lineup Thursday against the Mariners.

Beltre, who is hitting .276/.329/.671 with eight homers and 15 RBI through 21 games in September, will hit the bench for the second time in the last four games as the Rangers look to give him some extra rest down the stretch. Jurickson Profar is starting at the hot corner in this one, with Joey Gallo serving as the DH.

by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre is not in the lineup Monday against the Angels.

Beltre will get the night off as the Rangers look to rest the veteran third baseman over the final week of the season. In his absence, Shin-Soo Choo is serving as the DH while Jurickson Profar is manning the hot corner.

Rangers' Adrian Beltre: Will be rested over final week
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre will not be in the lineup every day over the final week of the season, T.R. Sullivan of reports.

Beltre will start Sunday, the Rangers' home finale and possibly his final game in front of the fans in Arlington, then have his playing time managed over the final week on the road in Anaheim and Seattle. This is the time of year when managers like to give veterans a chance to reach milestones, but Beltre already achieved his Friday. The 39-year-old Beltre hit the 476th home run of his career, moving him past Stan Musial and Willie Stargell for 30th on the all-time list.

Rangers' Adrian Beltre: Homers, collects five RBI
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre went 2-for-3 with a home run, five RBI and two runs in Friday's 8-3 victory over the Mariners.

Friday's game between the Rangers and Mariners was shortened by rain, but Beltre only needed three innings to collect all five of his RBI, as he connected on a three-run shot in the first inning and added a two-run single in the third. The 39-year-old third baseman has now homered in back-to-back games, and he owns a .276 batting average with 14 home runs and 61 RBI in 2018.

Rangers' Adrian Beltre: Swats solo homer
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo homer in Wednesday's loss to the Rays.

Beltre put the Rangers on the board with his solo shot off Ryan Yarbrough in the third inning, though it wouldn't be enough as the Rays exploded for nine runs en route to the win. The veteran third baseman is starting to heat up down the stretch, as he's hitting .283/.348/.683 with six homers and six doubles through 16 games in September.

Rangers' Adrian Beltre: Gets day off
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre is out of the lineup Sunday against the Padres.

After starting 17 straight games and slashing .266/.338/.594 over that span, Beltre will head to the bench while Isiah Kiner-Falefa handles third base. Beltre battled a Grade 2 hamstring strain earlier during that stretch, but the Rangers were able to find consistent at-bats by regularly deploying him at designated hitter. Though he's now healthier, Beltre will still likely move between DH and third base over the next couple weeks as the Rangers aim to keep him fresh.

Rangers' Adrian Beltre: Pops two homers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre went 2-for-4 with two homers and three RBI in Saturday's loss to the A's.

Beltre did all he could in this one, though it wasn't quite enough for the Rangers to grab the win. He put Texas on the board in the second inning with a solo shot before tying the game at six in the eighth inning with a two-run homer. The veteran third baseman is starting to heat up at the dish, as he's now homered five times in seven games this month -- he's slashing .385/.448/1.000 over that stretch -- after going deep just seven times in his first 95 games of the season.

Rangers' Adrian Beltre: Slugs 10th homer
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 9-3 loss to the Angels.

In his 100th game of the season, Beltre popped his 10th homer. The 39-year-old's in the twilight of his illustrious career, but his .275/.333/.403 slash line shows that he's not yet a liability at the plate.

Rangers' Adrian Beltre: Smacks eighth homer
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Saturday against the Twins.

Beltre took Jose Berrios deep in the fourth inning to record his eighth home run of the season and his first since August 10. While he continues to post a respectable average, Beltre's power has fallen off and his .389 slugging percentage is pacing toward his worst mark since 2009. The 39-year-old continues to get regular at-bats, but is sliding down the Rangers batting order, which only cuts into his already limited value.

Rangers' Adrian Beltre: Expected in field Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre is expected to start at third base in Sunday's series finale against the Giants, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Beltre, who has started only at designated hitter since returning from a third hamstring injury, pinch hit in the ninth inning Saturday and would have remained in the game as the third baseman had the Rangers tied the score. Jurickson Profar, who has started every game at third since Beltre injured his hamstring Aug. 13, will slide over to first base Sunday.

Rangers' Adrian Beltre: On bench Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre is out of the starting nine versus San Francisco on Saturday.

Manager Jeff Banister will refrain from putting Beltre in a fielding position in a National League ballpark as the veteran continues to nurse a hamstring strain. In his place, Jurickson Profar will make another start at third base. Don't be be surprised if Beltre remains on the bench for Sunday's series finale as well.

Rangers' Adrian Beltre: Rested Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre is not in the lineup Friday against the Giants.

Beltre hasn't played in the field since Aug. 13 while battling a nagging hamstring strain. With three straight games in a National League park, it's likely Beltre sits for all three, unless the Rangers feel comfortable using him at third base.

Rangers' Adrian Beltre: Drives in two in win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Athletics on Wednesday.

Beltre, who is limited to DH duties for the time being, was in the lineup for a second straight day. That's the first time he's played back-to-back days since suffering his third hamstring injury of the season. The challenge for manager Jeff Banister is finding opportunities for both Beltre and Shin-Soo Choo, who is the primary DH. The manager found a solution Wednesday, starting the 6-foot-5, 235-pound Joey Gallo in center field and putting Choo in left field. That allowed both Beltre and Choo to be in the same lineup, while solving the production black hole that has been the Rangers' center field position.

Rangers' Adrian Beltre: Out again Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre is not in the lineup versus Oakland on Monday.

Beltre will remain on the bench for a second straight contest, and fifth time in the past six games after suffering a Grade 2 hamstring strain last week. In his absence, Jurickson Profar will continue to man third base, though Beltre is limited to designated hitting duties at the moment. Due to the continued hot play of Shin-Soo Choo, it's not terribly surprising to see manager Jeff Banister keep him in the lineup and roll with an outfield of Nomar Mazara, Drew Robinson and Joey Gallo instead of inserting Beltre into the fold.

Rangers' Adrian Beltre: Gets rest Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre is out of the lineup Sunday against the Angels.

Beltre is still recovering from a left hamstring strain, but the injury won't prevent the Rangers from mixing him into the lineup at designated hitter until he's ready to return to his normal duties at third base. Even so, Beltre may not be guaranteed full-time at-bats while he nurses the injury, as the Rangers often prefer to use the defensively challenged Shin-Soo Choo at the DH spot, as will be the case Sunday.

Rangers' Adrian Beltre: Limited to DH
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre served as the designated hitter and went 1-for-4 with two RBI in Saturday's 11-7 loss to the Angels.

Beltre surprisingly was available after suffering a Grade 2 hamstring strain earlier in the week. He will serve as the DH for the foreseeable future, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports. He'll likely be deployed as a part-time player, even as DH. "He's probably relegated to [DH] for a time," manager Jeff Banister said. "But hopefully, we can give everybody a day. Hopefully, we can manage the outfield-DH situation pretty easily." Primary DH Shin-Soo Choo can play the field on occasion to spell Nomar Mazara or Joey Gallo.
