Twins' Yohan Pino: Signs minor league contract with Twins

Pino agreed to a minor league contract with the Twins on Tuesday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.

The right-hander most recently pitched in Korea, struggling to the tune of a 7.15 ERA over 39.0 innings, while posting a 23/15 K/BB ratio to go with it. He pitched with the Twins back in 2014, but posted a 5.07 ERA across 60.1 innings. The 33-year-old will likely provide organization depth at reliever for the Twins.

Royals activate Kris Medlen from DL, option Yohan Pino

The Royals activated pitcher Kris Medlen from the 60-day disabled list, the team announced on Monday. 

Medlen hasn't pitched in the majors this year as he recovered from Tommy John surgery. He'll be in uniform for Monday's game. 

To make room on the roster, the team optioned pitcher Yohan Pino to Triple-A Omaha.

Royals recall P Aaron Brooks from Triple-A, option P Yohan Pino

The Royals have recalled right-hander Aaron Brooks from Triple-A Omaha, and optioned pitcher Yohan Pino, the team announced Tuesday.

Brooks will be making his season-debut after making six appearances (five starts) for the Storm Chasers. In those six games, Brooks went 2-3 with a 3.51 ERA and an impressive 35:9 K:BB ratio over 33 1/3 innings.

This marks the second time in less than a month that Pino has been demoted to Triple-A. He was recalled on April 19. The team sent him back down on May 5 and called him back up three days later. Overall, the right-hander has made six appearances out of the Royals' bullpen, allowing just a single earned run (a home run) over 14 innings pitched.

Royals recall Yohan Pino, demote Francisco Pena to Triple-A

The Royals recalled pitcher Yohan Pino from Triple-A Omaha on Friday after placing starting pitcher Jason Vargas (elbow) on the 15-day disabled list. 

The Royals also optioned catcher Francisco Pena to Omaha to clear a roster spot for Drew Butera, who was acquired Thursday in a trade with the Angels.

Yohan Pino gives Royals another dominant arm in the 'pen

Yohan Pino has strung together a pair of solid outings, adding more firepower to an already strong Royals' bullpen.

Pino, who was called up from Triple-A Omaha last week, struck out four in three scoreless innings on Wednesday against Minnesota. He has thrown 7 2/3 scoreless innings in two long relief outings.

"The thing that caught my attention in spring is that he's a strike thrower and he's not afraid," manager Ned Yost said, per "I've liked him a lot more now when you see him under this type of competition in the Major Leagues. He's done a really good job for us."

Pino made his presence felt immediately, throwing four and two thirds scoreless innings of relief in Saturday's loss. He struck out three, walked none and allowed three hits.

Royals announce slew of roster moves Sunday

The Royals made a number of roster moves after Sunday's game including optioning Michael Mariot, Yohan Pino, Francisco Pena, Cheslor Cuthbert and Reymond Fuentes to Triple-A Omaha. 

They also optioned pitcher Brandon Finnegan to Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Terrance Gore to High-A Wilmington. In addition, Kansas City re-assigned Parker Morin and Brett Eibner to their minor-league camp, the team announced.

The Royals announced Monday they signed pitcher Yohan Pino to a one-year contract. The 30-year-old Pino went 2-5 with a 5.07 ERA in 11 starts as a rookie in 2014 for the Twins.

Twins outright Yohan Pino, Doug Bernier to Triple-A

The Twins have sent pitcher Yohan Pino and infielder Doug Bernier outright to Triple-A Rochester, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Bernier elected free agency, and Pino is expected to become a free agent as well. Pino made his major-league debut in 2014 and finished the season with a 5.07 ERA and 50:14 K:BB ratio in 60 1/3 innings over 11 starts. Bernier was just 2 for 7 with the Twins in 2014.

Twins pitcher Yohan Pino has been diagnosed with a minor strain of his ulnar collateral ligament, reports.

Pino, who was optioned to Triple-A after Saturday's doubleheader, will be shut down for two-to-four weeks, and he's likely to miss the remainder of the season. If his season is over, he'll finish with a 5.07 ERA and 50:14 K:BB ratio in 60 1/3 innings over 11 starts in his rookie season.

Error puts damper on Yohan Pino's strong start

Twins pitcher Yohan Pino was nearly sunk by an error Saturday against the Tigers.

Pino allowed four runs, one earned, on six hits over five innings. He struck out six and walked two. Pino allowed one run in the second inning, but was otherwise strong early. He ran into trouble during his final inning. Pino gave up a single to open the frame, and a second runner reached on an error. Pino struck out the next batter, which would have ended the inning had the previous play been made. Pino then gave up three straight run-scoring singles. He was finally able to get out of the inning, but the damage had been done.

The Twins blasted Buck Farmer early, giving Pino the win. Pino improved to 2-5. He'll take on the Orioles in his next start.

Yohan Pino set to start in Saturday's doubleheader

The Twins will recall pitcher Yohan Pino for Saturday's doubleheader against the Tigers, manager Ron Gardnehire told Thursday.

Pino will start the first game of the doubleheader, his first start since he was sent down last week. Pino's stay with the team will not last long, as he will be called up and sent down as the team's 26th man for the doubleheader.

Yohan Pino gets drilled Tuesday

Twins pitcher Yohan Pino got drilled by the Astros Tuesday.

Pino allowed seven runs on seven hits over 4 1/3 innings. He struck out seven and walked one during the outing. Home runs were a big issue for Pino. He gave up a solo shot and a two-run homer in the third inning, and allowed a three-run homer in the fifth. Chris Carter was responsible for two home runs and five RBI against Pino.

With the loss, Pino fell to 1-5 on the year. He'll take on the Royals in his next start.

Twins pitcher Yohan Pino fell one out shy of a quality start in a loss to Oakland Thursday night, dropping to 1-4 on the year. The right-hander allowed three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out two over 5 2/3 innings of work.

Pino owns a 4.59 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP over nine starts (51 innings). His next start will come Tuesday in Houston.

Twins pitcher Yohan Pino wasn't a factor into the decision Saturday against the White Sox, scattering four runs on seven hits and two walks in 6 1/3 innings while striking out five. Of his 87 pitches, 52 were strikes.

Pino has allowed four runs in two of his last three starts. He owns a 4.57 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP over eight starts (45 1/3 innings). His next start will come Friday at Oakland.

Pino has permitted two earned runs or fewer in three of his last four starts. he owns a 4.38 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP over seven starts (39 innings). His next start will come Sunday against the White Sox again, this time in Chicago.

Twins pitcher Yohan Pino took a loss Tuesday, giving up four earned runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings and striking out five in his team's 8-2 defeat against the Indians.

Pino (1-3) gave up three runs in a troublesome second inning, and the Indians were able to tack on another with a fifth-inning home run. He had surrendered just two earned runs in 11 innings over his previous two starts. Pino owns a 4.64 ERA and 24:7 K:BB ratio in 33 innings. He's slated to take on the White Sox Sunday.
