Astros' Charlie Morton: Notches 10th win Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Morton (10-5) emerged victorious Wednesday against the Diamondbacks after allowing one run on three hits with four walks and nine strikeouts over 6.1 innings.

Morton rebounded after surrendering multiple earned runs in each of his three previous starts, easily navigating a tough Arizona lineup while tying a season-low in hits allowed. Getting nine runs of support from the league's top-ranked offense was also helpful, as that cushion prevented Arizona's four runs in the final two innings against the bullpen from having any impact on the outcome. Morton will look to build on this effort Tuesday against the Nationals.

Astros' Charlie Morton: Knocked around by Rangers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Morton (9-5) allowed five runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out six over 5.2 innings in Friday's 6-4 loss to Texas.

Morton didn't have his best stuff and compounded that by committing an error that led to two unearned runs and inflated his pitch count to 37 in a four-run third inning. Not every start's going to be a quality one, so you'll just have to accept this one and move on. Morton has been steady for the Astros this season, out-pitching his preseason projections, particularly in the area of strikeouts. His next start will come Wednesday, when the Astros kick off a home stand against the Diamondbacks.

Astros' Charlie Morton: Spins another solid outing
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Morton struck out seven and allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks over seven innings in a no-decision against the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Morton posted a 4-1 record with a 3.23 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 9.4 K/9 through five starts since returning from the disabled list July 7, and Saturday's outing continued his strong work on the mound. He's established himself as a strong fantasy asset in the majority of settings, and it also helps that Morton is pitching for a contender. He lines up to face the Rangers at Globe Life Park in Arlington in his next start.

Astros' Charlie Morton: Beats Rays for ninth win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Morton (9-4) allowed two runs on two hits and three walks with five strikeouts over six innings in a win Monday against the Rays.

Morton has now won four of his last five games, tossing three quality starts in that span. His one mistake Monday night was a two-run homer by Corey Dickerson. The long ball has been his main weakness this season -- Morton owns a 3.77 ERA despite having surrendered 11 home runs in 15 starts, good for a mediocre 1.1 HR/9. That homer problem means it's best for fantasy owners to take care with how they use him, but Houston's strong offense has made Morton a decent source of wins.

Astros' Charlie Morton: Fans nine over seven scoreless frames Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Morton (8-4) tossed seven scoreless innings Tuesday, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out nine in a 5-0 win over the Phillies.

He threw 71 of 105 pitches for strikes in dominating Philadelphia and recording his fifth quality start of the year. Morton has now won three of four outings since coming off the DL, posting a 3.28 ERA and 27:8 K:BB in 24.2 innings over that stretch. The right-hander will next take the mound Tuesday at home against the Rays.
