Phillies' Daniel Nava: Heads to DL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nava was placed on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday with a lower back strain, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

It's unclear when the injury cropped up on Nava, but it's apparently bothersome enough to require a trip to the DL. While he remains without a timetable for his return, the move is retroactive to Aug. 12, so he'll be eligible to rejoin the Phillies on Aug. 22 should he be ready. Cameron Perkins was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Phillies' Daniel Nava: Loses out on regular playing time
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nava is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mets, Ryan Lawrence of PhillyVoice.com reports.

Nava will find himself on the bench for a fifth consecutive contest with the recent promotion of prospect Rhys Hoskins from Triple-A Lehigh Valley having pushed the veteran out of regular starting duties in the corner outfield. Though Nava is batting an outstanding .298/.390/.427 over 200 plate appearances this season, his standing as a 34-year-old on an expiring contract gives the rebuilding Phillies little incentive to hand him to deploy him in an everyday role.

Phillies' Daniel Nava: Takes seat Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nava is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Braves.

Nava will hit the bench following three consecutive starts, opening up a turn in the lineup for Cameron Perkins. It's still expected that Nava will retain something close to an everyday role for as long as Aaron Altherr (hamstring) remains on the disabled list, giving the veteran some appeal in deeper formats while he maintains an excellent .302/.394/.432 batting line on the season.

Phillies' Daniel Nava: Earns third straight start
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nava will start in left field and bat third Tuesday against the Braves.

It's the third straight start for Nava, with all of his assignments coming at different positions. He should at least be in store for a semi-regular role in the corner outfield for the duration of Aaron Altherr's (hamstring) stay on the disabled list, giving Nava some value in NL-only and deeper mixed leagues. Nava has gone 10-for-27 with four extra-base hits since the All-Star break, boosting his season line to a robust .311/.404/.445 over 193 plate appearances.

Phillies' Daniel Nava: Hits fourth homer Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nava went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Saturday's 8-5 loss to the Rockies.

Nava was getting a start in right field with Aaron Altherr on the disabled list with a hamstring strain. He'll likely rotate with Hyun Soo Kim and Cameron Perkins while Altherr is sidelined. Nava is also a candidate to be moved in a waiver trade this month given his strong performance in a reserve role this season.
