Brandon Barnes: Bound for KBO
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Barnes agreed Monday with the Hanwha Eagles of the Korea Baseball Organization on a one-year, $200,000 contract, Jee-ho Yoo of Yonhap News Agency reports.

Barnes had previously joined the Reds on a minor-league pact in February and was set to open the season at Double-A Chattanooga before the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in affiliated ball being suspended indefinitely. With the increasing unlikelihood that a minor-league season will be played in 2020, the Reds were willing to let Barnes pursue work elsewhere, and the 34-year-old ultimately found a lucrative opportunity overseas. Expect Cincinnati to formally waive its rights to Barnes in the coming days in order to clear the way for him to join Hanwha, where he'll be replacing another American outfielder in Jared Hoying, who was recently cut by the team.

Reds' Brandon Barnes: Links up with Reds on MiLB deal
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Barnes agreed Sunday with the Reds on a minor-league contract, Doug Gray of reports.

Barnes' deal doesn't include an invitation to the Reds' major-league camp, so he'll presumably be vying for an outfield spot on the Triple-A Louisville roster. The 33-year-old spent the 2019 season between the Indians' and Twins' Triple-A affiliates, slashing .253/.320/.504 with 30 home runs and 11 steals between the two stops.

Twins' Brandon Barnes: Traded to Twins
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Barnes was traded to the Twins and assigned to Triple-A Rochester on Thursday, Brandon Warne of reports.

The 33-year-old played well for Triple-A Columbus, amassing a slash line of .274/.337/.535 with 24 home runs and 77 RBI so far this season. Given his veteran presence, Barnes could see some time with the major-league squad if more depth is needed as long as he continues to impress at the Triple-A level.

Indians' Brandon Barnes: Returns to Cleveland
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Barnes signed a minor-league deal with the Indians which includes an invitation to spring training.

Barnes spent a majority of the 2018 season at the Triple-A level within Cleveland's organization before finishing up the campaign in the majors. Across 132 games for Columbus, he slashed .273/.347/.444 with 14 home runs, 81 RBI and 19 stolen bases. The 32-year-old will provide additional outfield depth for the Indians heading into 2019.

Brandon Barnes: Elects free agency
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Barnes elected to become a free agent Friday after being outrighted off the Indians' 40-man roster.

Barnes was sent outright to Triple-A Columbus on Thursday and will now return to the free-agent pool. The 32-year-old played 19 games with Cleveland -- going 5-for-19 with a home run, two RBI and two walks -- and his most likely path to a roster in 2019 is through a minor-league contract.

Indians' Brandon Barnes: Contract selected by Cleveland
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Barnes' contract was selected by Cleveland on Tuesday.

Indians' Brandon Barnes: Signs with Indians on minors deal
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Barnes signed a minor-league deal with the Indians that includes an invitation to spring training, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.

The 31-year-old journeyman failed to reach the majors for the first time since 2011, spending all of 2017 at the Triple-A level with the Marlins. He hit .276/.331/.420 with 11 home runs and 15 steals in 451 plate appearances in the Pacific Coast League. The Indians have enough outfield depth that they are invested in that it would be hard to envision Barnes carving out a big-league role in 2018 without a handful of injuries.

Marlins' Brandon Barnes: Inks minors deal with Marlins
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Barnes signed a minor league deal with the Marlins that includes an invitation to spring training, Joe Frisaro of reports.

Barnes appeared in 286 games for the Rockies over the last three seasons, but was designated for assignment in 2016 when the team promoted David Dahl. The veteran outfielder slashed .220/.250/.320 last year and will likely provide organizational outfield depth for the Marlins in 2017.

Rockies' Brandon Barnes: Accepted assignment to Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Barnes has accepted his assignment to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Barnes was designated for assignment July 25 after the Rockies called up outfield prospect David Dahl. With Dahl experiencing immediate success with Colorado, it's hard to see a scenario where Barnes comes back up without an injury to a current outfielder. With the trade deadline approaching, it looks like the Rockies are going to stand pat with Charlie Blackmon and Carlos Gonzalez.

by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Barnes was designated for assignment on Monday, Jenny Cavnar of reports

With Barnes out of options, the Rockies were forced to DFA him instead of optioning him to the minor leagues, while David Dahl was recalled in a corresponding move. Barnes has been awful over the past 20 games, hitting .128/.150/.205 with no home runs, three RBI and one run scored.

Barnes will cede his roster spot to 22-year-old outfielder David Dahl, who may step in as the regular left fielder. The 30-year-old Barnes could pass through waivers unclaimed, as he has 22 hits and 30 strikeouts in 100 at-bats this season.

by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Barnes is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays.

by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Barnes is in the lineup and batting eighth for Monday's game against the Blue Jays, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.

Rockies' Brandon Barnes: Not in Sunday's lineup
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Barnes is out of the lineup Sunday against the Diamondbacks, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.

Barnes has started three of the last four games in left field, but will give way to Ryan Raburn for the afternoon matchup against Arizona. Look for the two to continue to split playing time in left until Gerardo Parra (ankle) returns, after which they will likely be limited to starts against left-handed pitching.

Rockies' Brandon Barnes: Enjoys three-hit day Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Barnes went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs in Saturday's 11-6 victory over the D-backs.

Recalled from Triple-A just a little over a week ago, Barnes provided his second multi-hit effort of the season, and first since his most recent call-up. Filling in for Gerardo Parra (ankle) while the latter is on the DL, the 30-year-old is slashing .263/.300/.316 over 19 at-bats since returning to the big leagues.

Rockies' Brandon Barnes: Gets recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Barnes was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday, Thomas Harding of reports.

Barnes was recalled due to Gerardo Parra landing on the 15-day DL with a high ankle sprain. The 30-year-old had been hitting .277/.333/.365 with Albuquerque, and is 6-for-31 with two doubles and one triple during his time with the Rockies this year. Barnes will get a chance to share in the outfield duties with Ryan Raburn while Parra is out.

Rockies' Brandon Barnes: Optioned to Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Barnes was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.

With the Rockies activating Charlie Blackmon off the DL on Friday, Barnes was the logical player to be sent down to Triple-A given the club's crowded outfield situation. Barnes slashed .194/.242/.323 with seven strikeouts in 31 at-bats during his stint with the big league club.

Rockies' Brandon Barnes: Will leadoff Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Barnes will lead off and start in center field Sunday against the Dodgers, Jenny Cavnar of Root Sports reports.

Barnes usually is at the back end of the lineup when he starts, but today he will lead off and start in center field while Gerardo Parra slides over to left field. Barnes has collected six hits in 21 at-bats this season, resulting in an average of .286.

Rockies' Brandon Barnes: Starting in center field again Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Barnes is starting center field again Monday versus the Reds, Zach Buchanan of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Barnes came into the season looking like the Rockies' fifth outfielder, but he'll slot into the starting lineup once again despite the fact that right-hander Dan Straily is on the mound for the Reds. He'll bat sixth for Colorado, which could give him some RBI opportunities Monday night.
