Brewers' Keon Broxton: Reunites with Brewers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Broxton signed a minor-league deal with the Brewers on Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of reports.

Broxton was cut by the Twins in mid-August after posting a .181/.284/.330 slash line in 72 games at the Triple-A level this year. The 31-year-old has a .736 OPS over parts of three MLB seasons with the Brewers, but he hasn't seen the majors since 2019 and has struggled in his attempts to carve out a role elsewhere.

Keon Broxton: Cut loose by Minnesota
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Twins released Broxton on Thursday.

Even with Byron Buxton missing considerable time this season due to an assortment of injuries and other key outfielders spending time on the shelf, Broxton never put himself in position for a call-up to Minnesota. The 31-year-old struggled mightily at the plate for Triple-A St. Paul this season, slashing .186/.288/.335 while striking out in a whopping 44 percent of his plate appearances. Broxton hasn't appeared in the majors since 2019, and his rough showing at Triple-A makes it unlikely that he'll ever make it back to the highest level.

Twins' Keon Broxton: Sent to minors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Broxton was reassigned to minor-league camp, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Broxton had a strong spring by hitting .308 (8-for-26) with a home run, but he didn't really have a chance to make the major-league roster without a starter getting hurt. However, given Byron Buxton's injury history, Broxton could be called up at some point. He'll add depth at Triple-A in the meantime.

Twins' Keon Broxton: Strong start to spring
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Broxton hit a home run in his only at-bat in Sunday's spring training win over Tampa Bay. He's 5-for-8 with a home run this spring and could win a final reserve outfield spot, reports.

It's not clear how the Twins will utilize the last spot on their bench. Willians Astudillo will likely be the last bench spot since he can be a third catcher and play multiple positions. However, the Twins may prefer a right-handed hitting outfielder since they have so many left-handed hitting outfielders. Broxton could win the role as a result, especially given his defense and ability to play center field. He more likely begins the season at Triple-A and the Twins shuffle their last bench spot around based on needs during the season.

Twins' Keon Broxton: Joins Twins on minor-league deal
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Broxton signed with the Twins as a non-roster invitee Monday, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.

Broxton has had success at the big-league level in the past, hitting a solid .242/.354/.430 with 23 steals in 75 games for the Brewers back in 2016. He's had plenty of failure, too, hitting just .200/.280/.376 over 294 games since then. He spent all of last season stuck at the Brewers' alternate training site. If an injury crisis opens up a job for him this season, he could help fantasy teams out with a handful of steals, but his batting average drain may cancel that out.

Brewers' Keon Broxton: Misses out on roster spot
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Broxton will open the season at the Brewers' alternate training site, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Broxton had a chance to make the Brewers' 30-man roster, but the team decided to keep only five outfielders and he was not among that group. He will be among the options should the club need to add an outfielder to the big-league roster at any point.

Brewers' Keon Broxton: Back in action
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Broxton (personal) is in the lineup for Friday's intrasquad matchup.

Broxton was away from the team for several days to be present for the birth of his daughter, but he'll return to action in Friday's intrasquad game. Given the brevity of his absence, it's unlikely that it would impact his game readiness with Opening Day a week away.

Brewers' Keon Broxton: Away from team
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Broxton is away from the team while tending to a personal matter, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Broxton isn't currently in camp, but general manager David Stearns said Thursday that the team expects that he'll be back soon. The 30-year-old isn't currently on the 40-man roster, but he's competing for a spot with the major-league club ahead of the regular season.

Brewers' Keon Broxton: Attending summer camp with Brewers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Broxton will attend summer camp with the Brewers.

Broxton spent all of spring training with the Brewers after re-signing with the club over the offseason, and he will continue competing for a spot when camp re-opens. Broxton has some work to do to make the cut, but with more roster spots available and Ryan Braun likely filling the DH spot frequently, Broxton's chances of breaking camp with the big club have improved.

Brewers' Keon Broxton: Returns to Milwaukee
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Broxton signed a minor-league deal that includes an invitation to spring training with the Brewers on Sunday.

The Brewers traded Broxton to the Mets for a trio of prospects in January, but he'll rejoin the club after struggling across multiple organizations in 2019 with a .167/.242/.275 slash line in 228 plate appearances. The 29-year-old put up 29 home runs, 44 stolen bases and a .741 OPS in 218 games with Milwaukee in 2017 and 2018, and the team undoubtedly hopes he can rediscover that offensive form in 2020. Christian Yelich, Lorenzo Cain, Ryan Braun and Ben Gamel should make up the Brewers' top four outfielders to start spring training, but Broxton could be a decent depth option behind them with a rebound campaign.

Keon Broxton: Heads to free agency
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Broxton declined an outright assignment to Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday and elected free agency.

Broxton got into 100 games this season, split between the Mets, Orioles and Mariners. He fared poorly at each stop, finishing with a combined .167/.242/.275 slash line. He'll likely be stuck with a minor-league contract this offseason.

Mariners' Keon Broxton: Suspension reduced to one game
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Broxton will serve his suspension -- which was reduced to one game -- Sunday against the Rangers, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Broxton was suspended two games earlier in the week for throwing his equipment and hitting an umpire, though his ban was cut in half after an appeal. He'll start in center field and hit ninth Saturday before serving his suspension during Sunday's series finale.

Mariners' Keon Broxton: Appealing two-game ban
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Broxton was hit with a two-game suspension and a fine Tuesday after throwing his equipment and hitting an umpire Monday, Mark Feinsand of reports. Broxton is appealing the suspension and will be eligible to continue playing in the meantime.

The incident may have been an accident on Broxton's part, but he'll likely wind up being punished regardless. If and when he does serve his suspension, it won't be a major loss for the Mariners, as he owns a 173/.241/.286 slash line on the season.

Mariners' Keon Broxton: Sits in series finale
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Broxton is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays, Greg Johns of reports.

Broxton takes a seat after four consecutive turns in center field, during which he went 1-for-10 with three walks and six strikeouts. The Mariners should have regular room in the lineup for Broxton versus left-handed pitching, but Mallex Smith and rookies Jake Fraley and Tim Lopes look to be ahead of him in the outfield pecking order when Seattle opposes right-handed starting pitchers.

Mariners' Keon Broxton: Leaves yard in win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Broxton went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs overall in a win over the Blue Jays on Sunday.

Broxton made plenty of noise near the bottom of the order, slugging his second homer since arriving in Seattle shortly before the trade deadline. The outfielder is still struggling overall -- he's only 6-for-36 during his Mariners tenure -- so his defense continues to largely serve as his calling card.

Mariners' Keon Broxton: Not starting Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Broxton isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Tigers, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Broxton is hitless in August (0-for-15 over seven games) and will head to the bench to regroup. Mallex Smith gets the nod in center field in Broxton's stead.

Mariners' Keon Broxton: Out of Sunday's lineup
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Broxton is not in Sunday's lineup against the Rays, Greg Johns of reports.

He is hitting just .125 with one home run, two steals and 14 strikeouts in 26 plate appearances with the Mariners. Mallex Smith will start in center field while Tim Lopes starts in left.

Mariners' Keon Broxton: Takes seat Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Broxton isn't in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Rays, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Broxton has struggled at the dish of late, going 0-for-12 over his last four contests. Mallex Smith will shift over to center field and lead off in Broxton's place.

Mariners' Keon Broxton: Gets Sunday off
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Broxton is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Broxton will cede center-field duties to Mallex Smith after taking the last four starts at the position and recording three hits while striking out seven times in 16 at-bats. The 29-year-old looks like he could maintain an everyday role for Seattle for the time being, though he could be a prime candidate to lose work if Dee Gordon (quadriceps) returns from the 10-day injured list during the upcoming week.

Mariners' Keon Broxton: Homers in loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Broxton went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Rangers on Wednesday.

Broxton made noise out of the bottom of the order, slugging his fifth home run of the campaign in the eighth inning with Aaron Nola aboard. The recent arrival has gotten his Mariners tenure off to a strong start, going 3-for-9 with a stolen base and Wednesday's two RBI over his first two games.
