Pompey (knee) was taken off the 60-day DL on Friday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Pompey only played in eight big-league games in 2017, and wound up suffering what would become a season-ending knee injury during a rehab stint while in the concussion protocol. Looking ahead, the 24-year-old should be fully recovered and ready to go for spring training.
Pompey (knee) had his rehab assignment paused again Tuesday after not appearing with Triple-A Buffalo in 10 days, Ben Wagner of the Buffalo Bisons Radio Network reports.
Pompey managed to get back on track on July 4, but it seems like his knee continues to be an issue. No word has come forth as to how soon he'll get back in the swing of things, although given how many roadblocks he's hit thus far and how long it's been since appearing in game action, he very well could require a longer rehab stint than other players with a similar injury.
Pompey (concussion) was removed from his first rehab game with Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday after suffering an apparent leg injury, Amy Moritz of The Buffalo News reports.
Rehabbing from a concussion suffered in the World Baseball Classic, Sunday's event may cause a setback in his rehab timeline. Buffalo manager Bobby Meacham thought something was wrong when he saw Pompey "flexing his knee" after an awkward strikeout in the second inning. "We had to take him out. I'm not sure exactly, but he felt something with his leg," Meacham said. Pompey was not available to speak to the media after the game.
Pompey (concussion) moved his rehab assignment to Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday, Ben Wagner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.
Pompey has been on the disabled list all season after recovering from a concussion suffered during the World Baseball Classic. After a four-game rehab stint with High-A Dunedin, the outfielder experienced no recurrence of the concussion symptoms and with now test himself against higher-level competition before he's activated from the 60-day DL. The Blue Jays might not be able to find regular at-bats for Pompey once he's activated, so it wouldn't be surprising if he was immediately optioned to Triple-A.
Pompey (concussion) will begin a rehab stint with High-A Dunedin on Tuesday, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.
Pompey isn't eligible to return from the disabled list until June, but after beginning game activity earlier in May at extended spring training, it seems like the speedster is nearing a return to full action. No word has come out about how long the Blue Jays plan to keep him on his rehab assignment, but an early-June seems to be realistic in this instance.
