Orioles' Jose Rondon: Sent to Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rondon was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Rondon will remain in Baltimore's organization after being designated for assignment and going unclaimed on waivers. The 25-year-old owns an unsightly .196/.263/.280 line across 56 games with the Orioles and White Sox this season.

Orioles' Jose Rondon: Cast off roster
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rondon was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Saturday.

Rondon spent less than a week on the Orioles' roster, going 0-for-1 in his only plate appearance. He won't be a particularly interesting option on the waiver wire thanks to his .196/.263/.280 slash line in 56 games this season.

Orioles' Jose Rondon: Claimed by Orioles
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rondon was claimed off waivers by the Orioles on Tuesday.

The bar to make an impact in Baltimore is rather low given the quality of the other options on the Orioles' roster, but it's still not clear if Rondon can clear it. He's hit just .197/.265/.282 in 55 games this season and owns a career .202/.260/.337 slash line over parts of three big-league seasons. He may wind up stuck as little more than a utility player.

White Sox's Jose Rondon: Bounced from 40-man roster
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The White Sox designated Rondon for assignment Sunday.

Rondon has no minor-league options remaining, so the White Sox were forced to remove him from both the active and 40-man rosters in order to clear a spot for outfielder Eloy Jimenez (elbow), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list. The 25-year-old utility man will now be subject to waivers if the White Sox aren't able to orchestrate a trade to another team in the coming days. There may not be much of a market for Rondon's services after he slashed a middling .197/.265/.282 (48 wRC+) over 156 plate appearances with Chicago this season.

White Sox's Jose Rondon: Sits with righty on mound
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rondon is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins.

Rondon started each of the past three games at shortstop, going hitless across nine at-bats. All three of his starts came with left-handed pitchers on the mound for the opposition, so it doesn't come as much of a surprise that Rondon will check out of the lineup with a right-hander (Trevor Richards) on the hill for Miami. Ryan Goins will step in at shortstop and should continue to man the large side of a platoon at the position.

White Sox's Jose Rondon: Drives in run in loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rondon went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Sunday's 3-2 loss to Oakland.

Rondon started at shortstop Sunday and knocked in a run for the third consecutive game. Leury Garcia has been the primary fill-in for the injured Tim Anderson (ankle) at short, but Rondon will see an occasional start until Anderson is ready to return.

White Sox's Jose Rondon: Sitting Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rondon is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.

Rondon will be on the bench for the third time in four games after it appeared earlier in the week that he might take over as the White Sox's primary designated hitter following the release of Yonder Alonso. With Rondon batting just .159 since the beginning of June, however, manager Rick Renteria may be more inclined to simply rotate a number of options at DH rather than having one player handle the job.

White Sox's Jose Rondon: Hits two-run homer
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rondon went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Thursday's loss to the Tigers.

Rondon hit his third homer of the season in the fourth inning off Matthew Boyd. His season slash line still sits at an ugly .195/.267/.293 in 46 games.

White Sox's Jose Rondon: Third straight start
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rondon will start at second base and bat seventh Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Rondon will fill in for an ailing Yolmer Sanchez (illness) for the third straight game. Along with Sanchez, Tim Anderson (ankle) will be on the bench, leaving the White Sox with little depth in the middle infield. The team is expected to place Anderson on the 10-day injured list Friday, potentially creating more opportunities for Rondon and Leury Garcia to see work at shortstop.

White Sox's Jose Rondon: Back on bench
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rondon is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.

Rondon manned the hot corner in each of the past four games, but he'll be back on the bench Sunday with everyday third baseman Yoan Moncada (back) gaining clearance to return. While Moncada was sidelined, Rondon went 3-for-13 with a pair of walks.

White Sox's Jose Rondon: Fills in at third
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rondon made a second straight start at third base and went 0-for-3 with a walk in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Yankees.

Rondon is filling in at third base for the injured Yoan Moncada (back), who hopes to return over the weekend. Rondon is a utility piece for the White Sox and is approaching a career high in plate appearances, although his .200 batting average makes him less than desirable.

White Sox's Jose Rondon: Taking over at DH?
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rondon started at designated hitter and went 1-for-4 with a run scored in the White Sox's 2-0 win over the Royals.

Rondon filled in for the left-handed-hitting Yonder Alonso against a right-hander, and there's reason to believe the switch could be longer than a one-day break. Manager Rick Renteria spoke to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times about the change Saturday. "Let's see if we can give [Alonso] a mental respite, so to speak," Renteria said. "He didn't ask for it. But I think sometimes you have to look at your guys and make a decision, and right now I'm going to let Jose [Rondon] take that slot." That sounds like Renteria is moving on from Alonso as an everyday regular at this time.

White Sox's Jose Rondon: Fills in for Anderson
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rondon started at shortstop Saturday in place of the injured Tim Anderson (wrist). He went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in an 8-1 loss to the Twins.

Anderson was a late scratch after taking a pitch off his wrist during Friday's game. "He was just sore," manager Rick Rentera told Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times. "He tried to hit [Saturday morning] and said his wrist was too sore from the blow. So we decided to scratch him. He'll get treated up and we'll try to get him in the lineup as soon as possible." Rondon has one hit and six strikeouts in his last 17 at-bats, a stretch that's dropped his average to .203.

White Sox's Jose Rondon: Replaces Garcia
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rondon replaced an injured Leury Garcia (back) in center field during Sunday's 5-1 win over Toronto. He went 1-for-3.

The White Sox made Nicky Delmonico (shoulder) a late scratch before losing Garcia in the fourth inning. That leaves Chicago thin in the outfield, which could lead to a start Monday against the Indians for Rondon.

White Sox's Jose Rondon: Back to bench
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rondon is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

Rondon started each of the first three games of the series, going 2-for-12 with a double, a run and an RBI. The Red Sox deployed lefty starting pitchers for each of those three contests, so Rondon still appears to be locked into a short-side platoon role at second base with Yolmer Sanchez.

White Sox's Jose Rondon: Starts for Jimenez
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rondon started in left field in place of the injured Eloy Jimenez (ankle) on Sunday. He went 0-for-3 in a 4-1 win over the Tigers.

Rondon got the start against the left-handed Matthew Boyd and will likely platoon in left field with Nicky Delmonico as the left-handed-hitting complement to Rondon. The 26-year-old Rondon is batting .400 (8-for-20) against southpaws but just .118 (2-for-17) against right-handers.

White Sox's Jose Rondon: Fills in at two spots
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rondon played shortstop and third base and went 2-for-2 in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to Kansas City.

Rondon came off the bench when shortstop Tim Anderson was tossed for his role in a bench-clearing brawl. Rondon later moved to third base when Yoan Moncada was removed after taking a throw off his helmet.

White Sox's Jose Rondon: Hits first home run
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rondon went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in a 5-1 loss to the Rays on Monday.

This was the 25-year-old's first multi-hit game of the season, and he now has hits in four straight games. Considering Rondon has only played in five contests, that's pretty good production. He is 5-for-20 (.250) with three extra-base hits, two RBI and three runs in five games this season.

White Sox's Jose Rondon: Batting second Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rondon will start at second base and hit second in Sunday's game against the Mariners.

Rondon will substitute in for top second baseman Yolmer Sanchez for the second time in the series and could see the bulk of the action at the keystone when the White Sox face left-handed pitching, like they will Sunday with southpaw Wade LeBlanc twirling for the Mariners. Sanchez is a switch hitter but owns a career .224/.270/.320 batting line (60 wRC+) versus lefties.

White Sox's Jose Rondon: Starts at second base
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rondon started at second base and went 1-for-3 with a double in Friday's 10-8 win over the Mariners.

Manager Rick Renteria sat Yolmer Sanchez, who had started the first five games at second base, in favor of Rondon in the White Sox' home opener. Sanchez, who made an appearance as a pinch hitter and finished the game at second, is 1-for-21 through six games. Rondon isn't hitting much better (2-for-12), but it looks like he'll get a chance to usurp the starting job from Sanchez.
