Giants' Kelby Tomlinson: Stuns with homer off Kershaw
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Tomlinson went 2-for-2 with a solo homer and a walk against the Dodgers on Tuesday.

His first homer in 92 games this season came against Clayton Kershaw, of all people. That'll probably be a lifelong memory for Tomlinson, who's given the fantasy community no reason to consider him anything other than a light-hitting, relatively little-used utility man.

Giants' Kelby Tomlinson: Returns to bench
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Tomlinson moved back to the bench following Joe Panik's activation off the disabled list Friday.

The speedy infielder provided modest fantasy value with a .293 batting average and three stolen bases in 11 games while Panik dealt with a concussion. Tomlinson will resume his regular utility bench role and can safely be ignored in most fantasy leagues.

Giants' Kelby Tomlinson: Reaches base four times
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Tomlinson went 1-for-2 with three walks, a stolen base, an RBI and a run scored against the Phillies on Saturday.

The speedy infielder swiped his eighth base of the season and second in as many days. Tomlinson has collected a hit in all six of the games he started in place of the injured Joe Panik (concussion), scoring six times over that span despite batting eighth in the order. Panik doesn't have a definitive timetable to return from his concussion, so Tomlinson should continue to provide value in the speed categories until he returns.

Giants' Kelby Tomlinson: Could see uptick in playing time
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Tomlinson started at second base in place of the injured Joe Panik (concussion) Monday, going 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in an 8-3 loss to Miami.

Panik passed concussion tests after taking a blow to the head on a play at home plate Sunday, but the sinking Giants may opt to place him on the 7-day DL after he missed nearly a third of last season with concussion symptoms, Andrew Baggarly of The San Jose Mercury News reports. If that plan holds true, Tomlinson would likely fall into regular playing time at the keystone. The 27-year-old has struggled at the plate in a utility role this season (.239/.318/.283), but his excellent 8.8 speed score and success on the basepaths (6-for-6) would make him a cheap short-term target for steals in deeper formats if he were to gain an everyday role.

Giants' Kelby Tomlinson: Seeing limited chances as utility player
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Tomlinson has a .267/.325/.307 slash line with four stolen bases in 75 at-bats this season.

The 27-year-old excelled in a similar role the past two seasons, but has had a tougher time in 2017, especially against lefties (.233/.333/.233). Tomlinson provides positional versatility and has spent time at second and third base, shortstop and left field this season, but starts far too infrequently to be a reliable option in standard formats.
