Orioles' Hunter Cervenka: Signs with Orioles
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cervenka signed a minor-league contract with the Orioles on Tuesday, Jon Meoli of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Cervenka hasn't pitched in the majors since 2017. He posted a 2.80 ERA in 54.2 innings at the Triple-A level in the Orioles' and Cardinals' systems last season.

Cardinals' Hunter Cervenka: Assigned to minors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cervenka was reassigned to minor-league camp Saturday.

Cervenka allowed just one run and struck out six in four innings of spring action, though he was never more than a long shot to break camp with the team. The lefty owns a 4.69 ERA in 48 career major-league innings and is not on the 40-man roster, so he'll face a tough time getting a callup.

Cardinals' Hunter Cervenka: Lands MiLB deal with Cardinals
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cervenka agreed to a minor-league contract with the Cardinals on Monday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training.

The left-hander struggled a bit in the majors in 2016 and 2017, but after spending a bit of time in an independent league, he shined with the Tigers' Triple-A affiliate. Cervenka posted a 2.36 ERA and a 31:8 K:BB in 26 frames. He'll have a chance to work his way onto the big-league roster during spring training, but he'll likely have to outperform Chasen Shreve, Brett Cecil and Tyler Webb to avoid spending more time in the minors.

Tigers' Hunter Cervenka: Reaches deal with Detroit
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Tigers purchased Cervenka's contract Wednesday from the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, John Wagner of The Toledo Blade reports.

After being cut by the Orioles near the end of spring training, Cervenka reached a deal with the Skeeters and was dominant over 17.2 innings for the independent club, accruing a 1.52 ERA and 21 strikeouts. The lefty reliever will likely report to Triple-A Toledo upon joining his new organization with the hope of parlaying his stint in the minors into a spot in the big-league bullpen.

Hunter Cervenka: Released by Orioles
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cervenka was released by the Orioles on Thursday, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.

Cervenka's time with the Orioles has come to an end just two weeks after joining the team on a minor-league deal. The 28-year-old spent the majority of last season with Triple-A New Orleans, posting a lackluster 4.58 ERA scores 39.1 innings. He'll look to latch on elsewhere as organizational pitching depth.

Orioles' Hunter Cervenka: Signs minor-league deal with Orioles
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cervenka signed a minor-league contract with the Orioles on Tuesday, Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports.

Cervenka was recently released by the Marlins after giving up eight runs in 4.2 innings last year. He spent the majority of last season with their Triple-A club (New Orleans), posting a 4.58 ERA with a 6.26 FIP in 39.1 innings. The 28-year-old lefty could get a cup of coffee in the Orioles' bullpen at some point this season, but nothing in his track record suggests he'll be much of a fantasy asset if that happens.

Hunter Cervenka: Released by Marlins
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cervenka was released by the Marlins on Thursday, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.

Cervenka spent most of the 2017 season with Miami's Triple-A affiliate, posting a lackluster 4.58 ERA across 39.1 innings with the Baby Cakes. He saw a brief promotion to the majors, but struggled mightily with his command and allowed eight runs in just 4.2 innings of work. Cervenka will look to latch on elsewhere as organizational pitching depth.

Marlins' Hunter Cervenka: Designated for assignment
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cervenka was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Thursday.

Cervenka pitched in five games out of the bullpen for the Marlins last season, allowing eight earned runs off one hit and eight walks in 4.2 innings. The 27-year-old southpaw spent most of the year in Triple-A, where he accumulated a 4.58 ERA and 39:26 K:BB.

Marlins' Hunter Cervenka: Optioned to Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cervenka was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans on Friday.

Justin Nicolino was recalled in a corresponding move to replace Chris O'Grady (oblique) in the starting rotation, so Cervenka serves as the roster casualty. The southpaw has struggled mightily since being brought up in late July, allowing eight earned runs combined over his last three outings and posting a 0:6 K:BB in the process. He'll look to right the ship in Triple-A, where he owns a 4.50 ERA over 36 outings this year.

Marlins' Hunter Cervenka: Heads to big leagues
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cervenka was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on Monday, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.

Control continues to be an issue for the southpaw, although his strong strikeout numbers were enough in the Marlins' eyes to warrant a call-up. His 4.50 ERA out of the Baby Cakes' bullpen this season will likely exclude him from high-leverage innings in Miami, however. Tom Koehler was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Marlins' Hunter Cervenka: Optioned to Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cervenka was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.

Despite logging 43.1 MLB innings last season, he was not guaranteed a roster spot at the outset of camp, and apparently did little to change that notion during Grapefruit League play. Cervenka shows some quality traits, but he really needs to improve upon the 15.4 percent walk rate he posted in 2016.

Marlins' Hunter Cervenka: Not guaranteed bullpen spot
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cervenka isn't a lock to make the Marlins' bullpen, despite being the only left-hander in the mix with much relief experience, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Acquired from the Braves late last season, Cervenka appeared in 68 games in 2016 as a rookie and posted solid, if not exactly spectacular, numbers as a lefty specialist. Marlins manager Don Mattingly said Tuesday that he isn't committed to carrying a LOOGY, however, and with seven bullpen spots seemingly locked up after the front office's offseason moves, Cervenka will have to outpitch his right-handed competition to win the final vacancy.

Marlins' Hunter Cervenka: Recalled from Triple-A on Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cervenka was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday.

Cervenka will get another shot at pitching in the majors with the rosters expanding for the month of September. The left-hander spent the month of August shuttling between Triple-A and the big leagues, but his 8.9 K/9 and his .183 BAA versus lefties could come in handy as the Marlins prepare for a postseason push.

Marlins' Hunter Cervenka: Optioned to Triple-A on Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cervenka was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans following Saturday night's game, Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post reports.

Cervenka's spot on the major league roster is being taken by Justin Nicolino, who will be called up from the Zephyrs to start Sunday in place of Andrew Cashner (finger, blister).

Marlins' Hunter Cervenka: Called up by the Marlins
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cervenka will be recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on Sunday, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.

The Marlins will eventually need to recall a starter to replace Adam Conley (undisclosed) in the rotation, but for now, they will roll with Cervenka, a relief pitcher that can bolster their bullpen depth in the short term. Cervenka's tenure in Miami got off to a rocky start, but opponents hit just .192 off him over 50 games in Atlanta, so the club is hoping he can channel some of that energy and get back on track.

Marlins' Hunter Cervenka: Optioned to Triple-A New Orleans
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cervenka was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.

Although he's posted a solid 3.86 ERA in the show this season, Cervenka has been a liability on the mound since being acquired from Atlanta, as he's allowed three earned runs over just one inning (two games). The southpaw has struggled mightily with control this season and owns a 15.9-percent walk rate.

Marlins' Hunter Cervenka: Added to 25-man roster
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cervenka was recalled by the Marlins on Sunday.

Cervenka had been garnering interest from several teams interested in acquiring bullpen help, but the lefty reliever landed in Miami officially Satruday. He owns a career 4.56 minor league ERA (383 innings), and will take the roster spot of fellow reliever Nefi Ogando.

Marlins' Hunter Cervenka: Acquired by Marlins
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cervenka was acquired by the Marlins on Saturday, Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports.

Cervenka had been drawing interest from the Astros in recent weeks, but will take his talents to Miami instead. The 26-year-old has produced impressive numbers during his rookie campaign, posting a 3.18 ERA and 1.26 WHIP over 34 innings, and will give Miami a bullpen boost during the playoff push.

Braves' Hunter Cervenka: Drawing interest from Astros
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cervenka has been a topic of trade talk between the Braves and Astros, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports.

Houston houses one of the best bullpens in baseball -- owning a 3.12 ERA while holding batters to a .283 OBP -- but the club appears to be in the market for a left-handed reliever and is considering Cervenka as a possible low-cost option to help fill that void down the stretch. The 26-year-old rookie has been one of the few bright spots in Atlanta this season, posting a 3.14 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 33 strikeouts in 28.2 innings.

Braves' Hunter Cervenka: Extends Braves record for most scoreless innings to begin career
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cervenka extended his Braves record to 15 straight scoreless appearances to begin his career, striking out one in a perfect inning Thursday.

The left-hander set the franchise record with his 14th straight appearance without allowing a run last week. He is one of just three southpaws to not yield a run this season. Cervenka also has 13 strikeouts in 10.1 innings, but needs 14 more scoreless appearances to tie the MLB record set by Brad Ziegler in 2008.
