Orioles' Conner Greene: Latches on with Baltimore
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene agreed with the Orioles on a minor-league contract last week, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Greene moves on to his fourth organization after stints in the Blue Jays', Cardinals' and Royals' minor-league systems. He'll likely be given the chance to compete for a rotation spot with the Orioles' Triple-A affiliate in Norfolk.

Royals' Conner Greene: Remains in organization
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene cleared waivers Wednesday and was outrighted to Triple-A Omaha.

Greene was cast off the Royals' 40-man roster before having the chance to make his big-league debut. He struggled to a 5.13 ERA in the two highest levels of the minors last season.

Royals' Conner Greene: Cast off 40-man
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene was designated for assignment Wednesday.

A former top prospect in the Blue Jays' system, Greene is on his third organization and has been unable to improve his command to the point that he could be unleashed as a big-league reliever. He has an upper-90s fastball and his changeup has shown the potential to be an above-average offering, so it's possible a fourth organization will try to fix his command/control.

Royals' Conner Greene: Optioned to Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Monday, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.

Greene opened camp with the big-league team as a member of the 40-man roster but still needs to prove himself in the minors before making his debut. The 23-year-old recorded a solid 3.66 ERA in 39.1 innings of work at Triple-A Memphis in the Cardinals' organization last season, though that number hid an ugly 26:31 K:BB and a 5.75 FIP.

Royals' Conner Greene: Scooped up by Royals
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene was claimed off waivers by the Royals on Monday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

Greene split time between Double-A Springfield and Triple-A Memphis in 2018, posting a 4.44 ERA and 1.54 WHIP across 48.2 innings with the Cardinals and a 3.66 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in 39.1 innings with the Redbirds. Burch Smith was designated for assignment in a corresponding roster move.

Cardinals' Conner Greene: DFA'd by St. Louis
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene was designated for assignment by the Cardinals on Tuesday.

In an effort to protect other minor-league prospects from the Rule 5 draft, the Cardinals have shipped Greene off the 40-man roster. Genesis Cabrera, Ryan Helsley, Lane Thomas and Ramon Urias were all added in corresponding moves.

Cardinals' Conner Greene: Leaving major-league camp
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene was optioned to Double-A Springfield on Sunday.

Greene struggled to retire the opposition this spring. The 22-year-old threw 4.2 innings over five games, allowing six runs on nine hits and three walks in that time. He'll look to improve his game at Double-A Springfield this season. Greene has yet to find his groove at the Double-A level to this point. As a member of the Toronto organization, Greene spent the 2017 season at Double-A New Hampshire and registered a 5.29 ERA and 1.69 WHIP across 26 games.

Cardinals' Conner Greene: Dealt to Cardinals
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene was traded to the Cardinals on Friday along with Dominic Leone in exchange for Randal Grichuk.

The 22-year-old righty has a big mid-90s fastball but often doesn't have any clue where it's going. His changeup can be solid, but his two breaking balls are fringe offerings. He projects as a mid-to-late-inning reliever long term, though the Cardinals will likely continue to develop him as a starter for now, hoping that his command jumps a grade. Greene has logged over 200 innings at Double-A but has yet to earn a promotion to Triple-A.

Blue Jays' Conner Greene: Placed on 40-man roster
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Green was added to the Blue Jays' 40-man roster Monday and is protected from the Rule 5 draft.

The 2017 season saw Greene regress, as he posted a 5.29 ERA and 1.69 WHIP at Double-A New Hampshire. Both marks rose from their 2016 levels of 4.19 and 1.32, respectively. At just 22 years old, it's not out of the question for Greene to turn his trajectory around. However, last season's 92:83 K:BB shows he has a ways to go in order to stick as a starter in the long haul.

Blue Jays' Conner Greene: Loses stock after poor 2017 campaign
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene went 5-10 with a 5.29 ERA and 1.69 WHIP over 26 games (25 starts) with Double-A New Hampshire in 2017.

His latest campaign was a step in the wrong direction for Greene, who posted a 3.51 ERA and 1.38 WHIP over 27 games split between High-A Dunedin and Double-A last season. Greene's 5.7 BB/9 in 2017 raised the red flag even higher than it was before, as control problems are nothing new for the 22-year-old. Until he gains command of his pitches on a consistent basis, Toronto will have no choice but to leave Greene on the farm.

Blue Jays' Conner Greene: Control problems raise eyebrows
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene's wildness (4.4 BB/9) at Double-A New Hampshire this season has created doubt about his MLB readiness, Mark Zwolinski of The Toronto Star reports.

Viewed by some scouts as having the potential to become a No. 2 or 3 starter one day, Greene owns a 2-5 record with a 3.80 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 47 strikeouts through 11 starts (64 innings) this year. His strikeout rate isn't great, but the 22-year-old has limited opponents to an admirable .226 BAA while posting a strong 2.5 GO/AO.

Blue Jays' Conner Greene: Aiming for MLB debut in 2017
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene, who gave up seven runs in just two Grapefruit League innings, remains a candidate to make his big-league debut later in 2017, Laura Armstrong of the Toronto Star reports.

Despite failing to capitalize on limited spring action, Greene is one of the organization's top pitching prospects. He currently ranks second behind Sean Reid-Foley on RotoWire's rankings, but if Greene can improve his control, the righty could bypass the former. The 21-year-old (turns 22 on Tuesday) owns a 3.59 ERA with a 7.0 K/9 over four seasons in the minors.

Blue Jays' Conner Greene: Struggles with command Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene allowed two runs on two hits and one walk while striking out one in Thursday's game against the Phillies.

The Jays' No. 9 prospect lit up the radar gun once again, hitting 100 mph in his second straight spring outing. On the other hand, Greene continued to struggle with his command. Location, not arm strength, has always been the concern for the 21-year-old, and so far this spring, Greene's performance hasn't offered much reason for optimism. He'll likely begin the year at Double-A New Hampshire where he'll continue being groomed in hopes of joining the big league rotation in the coming years.

Blue Jays' Conner Greene: Struggling to find consistency at Double-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene is 7-8 this season with a 3.63 ERA and 1.44 WHIP through 116.2 innings combined with Single-A Dunedin (15 starts) and Double-A New Hampshire (seven starts).

The 21-year-old ascended three levels last year, but was still bumped back to Single-A Dunedin to start this season. Greene dominated there (2.90 ERA), but the results haven't been as great since climbing the ladder to Double-A New Hampshire. The Jays' No. 6 prospect (No. 66 overall pitching prospect) has struggled with high pitch counts and inconsistency since the promotion. "There aren't any concerns with Conner," Jays' Director of Player Development Gil Kim said. "He's a confident, athletic pitcher with a naturally gifted arm. He began the year in Dunedin and was one of the better performers, went to an all-star game. We concentrated with him on his focus and he improved greatly and earned the promotion to New Hampshire. He's very young for that level of competition and he's doing well. He's doing what he and the organization had agreed that he would work on."

Blue Jays' Conner Greene: Promoted to Double-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Jays promoted Green to Double-A New Hampshire, Keegan Matheson reports.

Greene has thrown 77.2 innings so far in 2016, all with Single-A Dunedin, striking out 51 and walking 38. That's a ratio the Blue Jays will look for him to improve upon, but in a season where the Toronto management has been very conservative with prospect placement and advancement, they're showing belief in Greene. Over his past ten starts, Greene's has a 2.70 ERA.
