Reds' Braxton Lee: Joins Cincinnati's organization
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lee signed a minor-league contract with the Reds on June 7 and was assigned to Double-A Chattanooga.

The 27-year-old outfielder had been playing for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball before the Reds elected to bring him back to affiliated ball. Lee previously saw action in the majors with the Marlins in 2018, going 3-for-17 over eight games with the club.

Marlins' Braxton Lee: Sent outright to minors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lee was outrighted to Double-A Jacksonville on Monday.

Lee made his big-league debut in 2018, though he hit just .176/.222/.176 across eight games with the Marlins and spent the majority of the season on the farm (hitting a combined .233/.316/.294 across three levels). With multiple prospects ahead of him on Miami's depth chart, Lee looks to be an organizational depth piece in 2019.

Marlins' Braxton Lee: Taken off 40-man roster
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lee was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Tuesday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.

After Lee struggled in his major-league debut in 2018 -- hitting just .176/.222/.176 across eight games -- the Marlins decided he was expendable and his 40-man spot better used elsewhere. Lee will now take a spin through waivers to determine his next landing spot.

Marlins' Braxton Lee: Back at Triple-A after injury
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lee (hamstring) was reinstated from the 7-day disabled list at Triple-A New Orleans on Monday, New Orleans radio broadcaster Tim Grubbs reports.

Lee was shut down for about a month after sustaining the hamstring injury in late April. Prior to rejoining the Triple-A club Tuesday and going 2-for-5 with a pair of runs in New Orleans' 9-8 win over Sacramento, Lee appeared in 11 rehab games between High-A Jupiter and Double-A Jacksonville, so it appears he has been reasonably healthy for quite some time. The 24-year-old will likely get another cup of coffee with the big club at some point later this season, but it may take an injury or two for him to see consistent starts in the Miami outfield.

Marlins' Braxton Lee: Nursing hamstring injury
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lee hasn't played in Triple-A New Orleans' last two games due to a hamstring injury, Joe Frisaro of reports.

New Orleans has thus far resisted moving Lee to the 7-day disabled list, though that could change if the outfielder fails to demonstrate meaningful progress in the next day or two. Lee, who appeared in eight games with the big club earlier this season, is hitting .186/.265/.186 at New Orleans.

Marlins' Braxton Lee: Sent back to Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lee was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans on Friday, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.

Lee struggled in his first taste of the majors, going just 3-for-17 (.176) with eight strikeouts. He'll head back to the minors for more seasoning, allowing veteran outfielder J.B. Shuck to head to the big leagues.

Marlins' Braxton Lee: Recalled from minors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lee was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans prior to Thursday's game, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.

In a corresponding move, the club placed outfielder Garrett Cooper (wrist) on the 10-day disabled list. Lee initially cracked the Opening Day roster, but was optioned to New Orleans on Sunday after appearing in the first two games of the season. Expect Lee to be utilized as a reserve outfielder.

Marlins' Braxton Lee: Sent to Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lee was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans on Sunday.

Lee managed to sneak on the Opening Day roster to provide outfield depth, but was not utilized in the starting lineup over the team's first three games. With Garrett Cooper (wrist) healthy and set to split right field duties with Cameron Maybin, there wouldn't have been many at-bats available for Lee anyway. Instead, he'll head to the minors, allowing Miami to add an extra arm.

Marlins' Braxton Lee: Recalled from minors Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Marlins recalled Lee from Triple-A New Orleans on Thursday, reports.

The transaction confirms that Lee earned a spot on the Marlins' Opening Day roster as a reserve outfielder. Since he lacks power and hasn't seen any plate appearances above the Double-A level, Lee will likely see most of opportunities as a late-inning pinch runner or defensive replacement.

Marlins' Braxton Lee: Makes Opening Day roster
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lee has made the Marins' Opening Day roster, Joe Frisaro of reports.

Lee has yet to appear above Double-A in his professional career, but he'll open the season as a reserve outfielder for the Marlins thanks to a lack of better options. The 24-year-old has flashed some speed (20 stolen bases in 127 games at Double-A in 2017), but lacks power (three homers in four minor-league seasons). While he could contribute for the depleted Marlins in 2018, he doesn't figure to offer much from a fantasy standpoint.

Marlins' Braxton Lee: Optioned to minors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Marlins optioned Lee to Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday, Craig Davis of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Lee, who was acquired last June in the trade that sent Adeiny Hechavarria to Tampa Bay, went 7-for-32 with five runs and four stolen bases in Grapefruit League action. The 25-year-old doesn't possess much pop, but has shown an ability to make contact and offers speed on the bases. He could surface with the big club later this season as a fourth or fifth outfielder.

Marlins' Braxton Lee: Keeps running Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lee hit leadoff in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals, going 2-for-2 with a walk, a run scored and his fourth stolen base of the spring.

The 24-year-old has yet to play above Double-A and came into camp as a long shot to win any kind of major-league role, but Lee's been doing his best to sway the front office by running wild and getting on base consistently when given a chance. Lewis Brinson and Magneuris Sierra both remain ahead of Lee on the Marlins' outfield depth chart for now, but if he looks like he can replace Dee Gordon's lost speed at the top of the order, Lee could find himself in the big leagues on Opening Day. Before adding him to any late-round sleeper lists, however, keep in mind that his 4-for-4 performance on the basepaths this spring is a far cry from his 58.9 percent success rate (33-for-56) over the last two minor-league seasons.

Marlins' Braxton Lee: Joins 40-man roster
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lee was added to the Marlins' 40-man roster Monday, Joe Capozzi of The Palm Beach Post reports.

To protect Lee from the Rule 5 draft, Miami added him to the 40-man roster. The Rays traded Lee to the Marlins in June. After joining Miami, he was assigned to Double-A Jacksonville, where he slashed a solid .294/.398/.364 over 60 games.
