Huang signed a minor-league contract with the Rangers on Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training.
Huang made his major-league debut in 2019, posting a 3.18 ERA over 5.2 innings pitched for the Rangers. The right-hander was not tendered a contract by the team, but he will return to the organization, likely with Triple-A Nashville. The 26-year-old had a lackluster performance at the Triple-A level last year, recording a 6.10 ERA with a 1.58 WHIP over 31 innings.
Huang was non-tendered by the Rangers on Monday.
Huang appeared in four games for Texas in 2019, allowing two runs on eight hits and five walks while fanning two over 5.2 innings out of the bullpen. He's likely headed for a minor-league deal after being cut loose Monday.
Huang was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Huang made just two appearances during his most recent stint with the Rangers, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks in 2.1 innings of work. Jeffrey Springs will take his place on the roster and in the bullpen.

During his week-and-a-half-long stint with the big club, Huang appeared in one game and tossed a scoreless inning in relief.

Huang had a 2.00 ERA at the Double-A level in the Diamondbacks organization prior to a midseason trade, but he struggled to a 6.30 mark for Frisco after the move. He'll need to impress there this season if he's to earn a promotion.
