Diamondbacks' Brett de Geus: Snares win Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

De Geus (3-2) allowed a run and struck out one over a scoreless sixth inning to pick up the win over Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

De Geus came into a tied game then benefitted from Arizona's bats coming alive in the final innings. A Carson Kelly pinch-hit home run in the seventh followed by a David Peralta two-run double in the eighth secured the win for the reliever, who has a 5.51 ERA since the Diamondbacks claimed him off waivers from the Rangers in June. That represents an improvement after de Geus pitched to an 8.44 ERA while with Texas. It's unclear how the Diamondbacks view the 23-year-old, who was a Rule 5 pick during the offseason. Given that his highest minor-league level was High-A before pitching in Texas this season, the Arizona organization may want to let him finish out the season in the big leagues then develop more fully in the minors next year.

Diamondbacks' Brett de Geus: Falters in loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

De Geus (2-1) lost Saturday's 6-2 defeat at the hands of the Padres, allowing three runs on two hits and a walk without recording an out.

De Geus entered a 2-2 game in the bottom of the eighth and allowed three straight baserunners before being removed. All three Padres eventually came around to score as the righty was handed his first career loss. The three runs allowed were only one fewer than the four he'd permitted in 12.2 innings since joining Arizona in June.

Diamondbacks' Brett de Geus: Blows save, picks up win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

De Geus (2-0) earned the win Wednesday versus Pittsburgh. He allowed an inherited runner to score on a walk, taking a blown save in two-thirds of an inning.

De Geus wasn't charged with the run -- that went on Joe Mantiply's line instead. It still counted as the first blown save of de Geus' career, although he was able to earn the win as Arizona's Pavin Smith and Daulton Varsho went back-to-back to regain the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. Through 34.1 innings, the 23-year-old right-hander has a 7.08 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 30:15 K:BB between Arizona and Texas.

by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

De Geus (1-0) won Friday's 5-2 victory against the Dodgers, getting two outs in the fifith inning.

De Geus relieved starter Taylor Widener with two on and one out in the fifth and recorded two straight outs to fall in line for the win. Surpisinigly, the win is the rookie's first decision in 32 innings this season, though he's mostly been deployed in mop-up duty.

Diamondbacks' Brett de Geus: Recalled by Diamondbacks
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

De Geus was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Saturday.

De Geus was claimed off waivers from the Rangers on Friday, and he'll join the major-league roster just one day later. The right-hander should serve mainly as a low-leverage reliever after posting an 8.44 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in 26.2 innings across 19 big-league appearances to begin the year. Corbin Martin was sent down in a corresponding move.

Diamondbacks' Brett de Geus: Claimed by Arizona
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Diamondbacks claimed de Geus off waivers from the Rangers on Friday.

De Geus was DFA'd by Texas last week after the right-hander struggled to an 8.44 ERA across 19 big-league appearances. After the Dodgers passed on reclaiming the Rule 5 draftee, he'll now head to the Arizona organization. The Diamondbacks have not announced where de Geus will be assigned, but he figures to be a strong candidate to join the major-league roster.

Rangers' Brett de Geus: Designated for assignment
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Rangers designated de Geus for assignment Wednesday.

The righty allowed multiple runs in five of his last seven relief appearances, most recently yielding three in 1.1 innings Tuesday. The Dodgers could reclaim de Geus, who was picked by Texas in the Rule 5 draft, but his 8.44 ERA can't be too appealing to a contending club like Los Angeles.

Rangers' Brett de Geus: Stabilizes after rough debut
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

De Geus struck out one over a scoreless inning in Saturday's 7-4 loss to San Diego.

De Geus has worked three scoreless outings after getting knocked around in his MLB debut Opening Day when he ceded three runs on one hit, two walks and two hit batsmen. Since then, it's been goose eggs over 4.2 innings for the right-hander. While all of de Geus' appearances have come in the final third of games, none of them have been high leverage. That was to be expected given the 23-year-old was a Rule 5 draft pick during the offseason and is not likely to be counted on for important relief work.

Rangers' Brett de Geus: Slated to begin year in majors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

De Geus has been informed that he'll make the Rangers' Opening Day roster, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

De Geus was a Rule 5 draft pick from the Dodgers and will begin the regular season in a low-leverage role in the major-league bullpen. The right-hander posted a 4.05 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 6.2 innings this spring as he prepares for his big-league debut.

Rangers' Brett de Geus: Back in action

De Geus (illness) struck out two over a scoreless inning in Sunday's spring game against Cleveland.

De Geus, a Rule 5 draft pick from the Dodgers, was removed from his previous Cactus League appearance with intestinal distress. The 23-year-old has allowed one run on two hits and one walk while striking out five over five spring innings.

Rangers' Brett de Geus: Exits with trainers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

De Geus left Saturday's spring game against the Brewers early due to intestinal distress, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

De Geus was brought in during the final inning of Saturday's spring game but left the game after recording just two outs. The game ended since the Rangers didn't have any more pitchers to use Saturday, but it's unlikely that de Geus will be forced to miss extended time following his early departure.

Rangers' Brett de Geus: Nabbed by Rangers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Rangers selected de Geus with the second pick of the Rule 5 draft.

The 6-foot-2 righty logged a 1.79 ERA with eight saves in 39 games in the Dodgers organization in 2019. He has never pitched above High-A, but as a reliever, he could theoretically hold his own out of the Rangers' bullpen in 2021. De Geus spent the 2020 season at the Dodgers' alternate site.
