Tigers' Miguel Del Pozo: Begins rehab assignment
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Del Pozo (jaw/illness) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday.

Del Pozo has been on the COVID-19 injured list since Sept. 10 after he tested positive for the virus, but he'll return to game action less than two weeks later. It's not yet clear whether the southpaw will require multiple rehab appearances, but he'll likely be able to return to the major-league club prior to the end of the year.

Tigers' Miguel Del Pozo: Placed on COVID IL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Del Pozo (jaw) was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Friday. Per Evan Woodbery of MLive.com, he tested positive for the virus and is symptomatic.

The positive test means he'll likely be required to quarantine for 10 days before returning to the club. The left-hander appeared to be close to returning from an 11-day absence after being hit by a line drive on the jaw Aug. 30, but his move to the COVID-IL means he won't return to the mound until the late stages of September.

Tigers' Miguel Del Pozo: Throwing bullpen Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Del Pozo (jaw) will have an idea of when he might return after his bullpen session Tuesday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Manager AJ Hinch said Del Pozo is still dealing with soreness in his jaw, but he was cleared of a concussion and should be ready to pitch again fairly soon. With rosters expanding to 28 on Wednesday, the lefty will likely remain with the Tigers even if he requires a few more days to recover.

Tigers' Miguel Del Pozo: Cleared of concussion
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Del Pozo passed his initial concussion tests after being struck in the jaw by a line drive in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Twins, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

After being recalled from Triple-A Toledo prior to the contest, Del Pozo was summoned from the bullpen to begin the ninth inning. Just two pitches into his appearance, he took a liner from Max Kepler off the face, but he still recorded the out and appears to have escaped from the play with little more than a laceration on his chin that required stitches. Del Pozo can be viewed as day-to-day heading into the Tigers' three-game series with the Athletics that begins Tuesday.

by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Del Pozo received stitches on his chin and is being evaluated for a concussion after being struck in the head by a line drive Monday against the Twins, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Del Pozo threw only two pitches during the ninth inning before struck and leaving the contest. The left-hander should be considered day-to-day as he continues to be evaluated.

Tigers' Miguel Del Pozo: Moves back to big club
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Tigers recalled Del Pozo from Triple-A Toledo on Monday.

He'll give the Tigers a fresh arm out of the bullpen for Monday's make-up game with the Twins after Detroit optioned reliever Jason Foley to Triple-A following Sunday's loss to Toronto. Since being demoted to Toledo in mid-July after a brief stint with the big club, Del Pozo has submitted a 2.40 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 15 innings out of the Triple-A bullpen.

Tigers' Miguel Del Pozo: Sent back to Toledo
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Del Pozo was optioned back to Triple-A Toledo after serving as the club's 27th man for Saturday's doubleheader against the Twins.

Del Pozo did not appear in either game of the twin bill and will now return to Toledo for the time being. While the right-hander has made three trips to the big leagues this season, he's appeared in just one game for Detroit, allowing two runs in two-thirds of an inning June 28. Del Pozo, who has a solid 2.78 ERA and 0.81 WHIP at Triple-A, figures to be a strong candidate to rejoin the Tigers' bullpen when the club becomes in need of another arm later this season.

Tigers' Miguel Del Pozo: Recalled to Detroit
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Del Pozo was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.

Del Pozo will take Michael Fulmer's spot on the 26-man roster after Fulmer landed on the injured list with a right cervical spine strain in his neck. This will mark Del Pozo's second stint in the big leagues this season, though he did not make an appearance during his two games with Detroit in mid-June. The lefty most recently pitched in the majors in 2020, blowing two saves while allowing seven earned runs across 3.2 innings for Pittsburgh. The reliever has posted a 1.02 ERA and 0.58 WHIP across 17.2 innings with Toledo this season.

by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Del Pozo was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday.

The left-hander had his contract selected by the Tigers on Tuesday, but he'll head back to Triple-A after a two-game stint in the majors in which he didn't take the mound. Del Pozo has pitched well at Toledo this season with a 1.32 ERA, 0.53 WHIP and 17:3 K:BB across 13.2 innings.

The Tigers selected Del Pozo's contract from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

The lefty has excelled in Toledo's bullpen this year, posting a 1.32 ERA and 17:3 K:BB in 13.2 innings. It remains to be seen whether Del Pozo's minor-league success can translate to the big-league level, as he pitched to a 10.61 ERA with the Angels in 2019 and a 17.18 ERA with the Pirates last year.

Pirates' Miguel Del Pozo: Signs with Tigers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Del Pozo signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Thursday.

The lefty made five relief appearances for the Pirates last season, allowing seven runs in 3.2 innings while posting a 2:8 K:BB. That gives him a 12.46 ERA for his career in 13.0 innings at the highest level, and his 4.99 ERA in 48.2 Triple-A innings doesn't seem to suggest a significant improvement is coming any time soon for the 28-year-old southpaw.

Pirates' Miguel Del Pozo: Outrighted to alternate camp
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Del Pozo cleared waivers Sunday and was outrighted to the Pirates' alternate training site, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

After a rough start to the season, Del Pozo was designated for assignment by Pittsburgh on Thursday. He wasn't able to find a spot in another major-league bullpen, so he'll instead continue to work at the Pirates' alternate training site. It's unclear whether he'll get another chance with the major-league club during the shortened 2020 season.

Del Pozo was recalled by the Pirates on Tuesday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.

Del Pozo was sent to the Pirates' alternate training site ahead of the start of the regular season, but he'll join the major-league bullpen after Kyle Crick (shoulder) and Clay Holmes (forearm) were placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday. However, the southpaw isn't likely to have a prominent role with the major-league club.
