Mets' Jose Reyes: Placed on disabled list
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Reyes was put on the 10-day DL prior to Thursday's game due to a left oblique strain, Newsday's Marc Carig reports.

Reyes was scratched from the lineup before Wednesday's contest after coming up lame during batting practice with a sore left rib. Following further evaluation, the infielder was diagnosed with a strained oblique, and appears headed for a extended stay on the DL. There has yet to be word on the severity of Reyes's injury, but more information should become present within the next couple days. In his place, Matt Reynolds was called up from Triple-A Las Vegas and will earn a start at the hot corner for Thursday's series finale.

Mets' Jose Reyes: Could land on DL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Reyes went to a hospital to have his sore ribcage further evaluated, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.

Reyes was scratched from Wednesday's game against the Yankees after he was unable to take batting practice, and it appears he may be dealing with a more serious injury than initially expected. Manager Terry Collins said the team may need a pair of infielders for Thursday's game, according to Marc Carig of Newsday, so it sounds like Reyes could be headed to the DL. More should be known once the results from his hospital visit are disclosed.

Mets' Jose Reyes: Scratched from Wednesday's lineup
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Reyes was scratched from Wednesday's game with a sore left rib cage, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.

Reyes appeared to have suffered the injury during batting practice, as the infielder left the field about midway through the club's session. He should be considered day-to-day until more information arises concerning the severity of this issue. In his place, Asdrubal Cabrera will handle the duties at second base for Wednesday's affair.

Mets' Jose Reyes: Draws leadoff duties Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Reyes will lead off and man second base Wednesday against the Yankees.

Asdrubal Cabrera is receiving the day off, so Reyes will assume his spot in the field and near the top of the batting order following back-to-back games on the bench. With the recent additions of top prospects Dominic Smith and Amed Rosario to the infield, it's expected that Reyes will be limited to reserve duties more often than not over the final month and a half of the season.

Mets' Jose Reyes: Heads to bench Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Reyes is out of the lineup Monday against the Yankees.

The recent promotion of first-base prospect Dominic Smith has created a domino effect that has resulted in Wilmer Flores seeing more starts at third base while Asdrubal Cabrera has shifted over to second base more regularly. That could conspire to frequently keep Reyes on the bench, where he'll find himself for the second time in four games. Since the 34-year-old is batting just .221 on the season and isn't viewed as part of the Mets' long-term core, there's little incentive for manager Terry Collins to hand Reyes everyday at-bats over the final month and a half of the campaign.
