St. John cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.
St. John threw 6.2 innings for the Rangers this season, allowing four earned runs while recording a 5:4 K:BB. He'll likely have to wait until next season for his next big-league opportunity.

The Rangers apparently didn't view the 26-year-old lefty as a major part of their long-term plans. so he'll be left exposed to the waiver wire after the team reinstated Jeffrey Springs (biceps) from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move.
St. John was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

St. John will provide Texas with another lefty multi-inning option out of the bullpen after the organization designated Drew Smyly for assignment in a corresponding move. Between stops at Nashville and Double-A Frisco this season, the 26-year-old limited opposing batters to a .192 average while posting a 1.56 ERA and 49:14 K:BB in 34.2 innings.
