Tigers' Riley Greene: Moves up to Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene was promoted to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Greene went 20 consecutive games without a home run from late July until early August, but he'll move up in the Tigers' minor-league system after a monster stretch in which he hit .471 with six home runs, four doubles, 17 RBI and 11 runs in his last eight games. If the 20-year-old performs well at the Triple-A level, he'll be in consideration to make a late-season debut for Detroit.

Tigers' Riley Greene: Stuck in deep power drought
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene has gone 20 consecutive games without a home run for Double-A Erie, a span of 87 plate appearances in which he's hit .237/.333/.316 with just one RBI, two steals and a 10:30 BB:K.

The 34.4 percent strikeout rate he's posted in that span is troubling, and it's not improving, as he's whiffed eight times in the last four games. He also hasn't collected an extra-base hit of any sort in more than a week. One of the most highly regarded hitting prospects in the game, Greene still has a palatable .275/.364/.449 season line with Erie, so this could just be a spell of normal regression for a 20-year-old playing at a fairly high level of baseball. Nonetheless, it certainly isn't going to accelerate his progress toward the big leagues.

Tigers' Riley Greene: Nearly notches cycle at Double-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene went 3-for-3 with a home run, triple, double, two walks, four RBI and three runs Saturday in Double-A Erie's 8-7 loss to Altoona.

In what was perhaps the best game of his young career, the 20-year-old outfielder was just a base hit shy of becoming the first Erie player in nine years to hit for the cycle. After a somewhat slow start to the season, Greene has heated up in June, slashing .296/.400/.574 with six extra-base hits in 15 games this month.

Tigers' Riley Greene: Likely headed for Double-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Tigers general manager Al Avila said Tuesday that he expects Greene to open the season at Double-A Erie, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Greene only had 108 plate appearances at the Low-A level in his first professional season in 2019, but the Tigers have apparently feel comfortable enough with his development over the past year and a half to have him skip the High-A level entirely. Expect the 20-year-old outfielder to spend the entire 2021 campaign at Erie, with a promotion to the big leagues unlikely to come until 2022 unless he dominates in the Double-A Northeast league.

Tigers' Riley Greene: Moved to minor-league camp
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene was reassigned to minor-league camp Saturday.

Greene spent the first month of spring training at major-league camp and saw plenty of playing time during Grapefruit League play. During that time, the 20-year-old went 3-for-18 with a double, two runs, one RBI, one stolen base, five walks and seven strikeouts. Greene should begin the season at High-A West Michigan or Double-A Erie.

Tigers' Riley Greene: Could get early at-bats
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene may see extended playing time early in spring training with the likes of Jonathan Schoop, Renato Nunez and Nomar Mazara arriving late to camp, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Greene and Spencer Torkelson are the Tigers' most promising offensive prospects, and both could see plenty of at-bats out of the gate in Grapefruit League action. Greene popped with two home runs and a 1.528 OPS in seven spring training games last season, and he'll get the chance to impress again in 2021, but the Tigers are unlikely to rush the 20-year-old to the majors. He's likely to begin the year at High-A West Michigan or possibly Double-A Erie.

Tigers' Riley Greene: Reassigned to alternate site
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene was reassigned to the Tigers' alternate training site Monday.

Greene made some splash plays in summer camp, but the Tigers won't rush their highly touted 19-year-old. He'll now get to work on his game in Toledo and aim to debut in the majors in his early 20s.

Tigers' Riley Greene: Makes 60-man roster
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene will be a part of the Tigers' 60-man player pool this season.

Greene finished 2019 with Low-A West Michigan, so it would seem he's still a ways off from his MLB debut. However, the highly touted 19-year-old will now be able to train with major-league players this year as he continues his development.

Tigers' Riley Greene: Hits another home run
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene went 1-for-1 with a walk, a two-run home run and two runs scored in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Mets.

In two spring training games, Greene now has two home runs and three walks. It's certainly been a promising start for the hyped 19-year-old, who will look to carry this momentum through the spring and into the minor-league season.

Tigers' Riley Greene: Pops homer in spring debut
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene went 1-for-1 with two walks, a solo home run and two runs scored in Sunday's Grapefruit League win over the Pirates.

The fifth overall pick in the 2019 draft, Greene made an immediate impact in his first spring training game. The Tigers are sure to give the 19-year-old more seasoning in the minors, but he's certainly a player to track over the next few seasons.

Tigers' Riley Greene: Moves to Low-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene was promoted to Low-A West Michigan on Wednesday, Emily Waldon of The Athletic reports.

Green was drafted with the fifth overall pick by the Tigers in June and has spent the last month at short-season Connecticut, slashing .295/.380/.386 in 24 games. The 18-year-old was viewed as the top prep hitter in the class and has illustrated those skills in his first taste of professional baseball.

Tigers' Riley Greene: Raking in NYPL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Greene is hitting .400 with one home run and an 8:4 K:BB in 30 at-bats since getting promoted to short-season Connecticut.

He is slashing .373/.455/.597 with three home runs and 20 strikeouts in 16 games across stops in the Gulf Coast League and New York-Penn League. Greene, whom the Tigers selected with the fifth overall pick in the 2019 draft, is living up to his billing as the top prep hitter in the class.
