Andres Blanco: Cut loose by Milwaukee
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Brewers released Blanco on Thursday.

The 36-year-old infielder hasn't appeared in the majors since 2017 and was expected to open the season at Triple-A San Antonio had he stuck around in the Milwaukee organization. Blanco played exclusively with the Braves' Triple-A affiliate at Gwinnett in 2019, slashing .262/.364/.443 over 530 plate appearances.

Brewers' Andres Blanco: Invited to camp by Brewers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Blanco signed with the Brewers as a non-roster invitee Friday.

The veteran has spent parts of 10 seasons in the big leagues, though he hasn't appeared at the highest level since 2017. With a career .256/.310/.378 slash line, he's unlikely to be more than a bench option if he finds his way onto the big-league roster.

Braves' Andres Blanco: Sent to minors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Blanco was reassigned to minor-league camp Sunday, Gabe Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Blanco's strong spring -- during which he went 6-for-14 (.429) with a homer and six RBI -- wasn't enough to earn him a spot on the Braves' Opening Day roster. The veteran infielder will serve as organizational depth.

Andres Blanco: Signs minor-league deal with Braves
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Blanco signed a minor-league contract which includes an invitation to spring training with the Braves on Friday, Jon Heyman of FancredSports.com reports.

Blanco can fill in all around the infield, but there's not much left in the 34-year-old's bat, which was rarely an asset even when he was younger. He owns a career .256/.310/.378 slash line in parts of 10 big-league seasons and was last seen at the major-league level hitting .192/.257/.292 in 144 plate appearances for the Phillies back in 2017. It would be a surprise to see the veteran win an Opening Day roster spot and an even bigger surprise to see him make a significant impact.

Brewers' Andres Blanco: Lands on DL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Blanco was placed on the 7-day disabled list with an undisclosed injury.

The Brewers have yet to release any information regarding Blanco's status, though the infielder will be eligible to return from the minor-league DL next Wednesday. Over 21 games with Triple-A Colorado Springs in 2018, he's hitting .329/.405/.479 with 13 RBI.

Brewers' Andres Blanco: Latches on with Brewers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Blanco signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Monday.

Blanco will serve as organizational infield depth for the Brewers after being released by the Giants towards the end of spring training. The 33-year-old occupied a utility role for the Phillies over the past four seasons, hitting a combined .257/.320/.422 across 301 games (667 plate appearances).

Andres Blanco: Released by Giants
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Blanco was released by the Giants on Friday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Blanco served a utility role for the Phillies for the past four seasons but wasn't able to win a similar job for the Giants this year. The 33-year-old went 6-for-19 this spring, but in a larger sample of 144 plate appearances last season, he hit .192/.257/.292. There may not be another major-league opportunity available for a veteran with a declining bat.

Giants' Andres Blanco: Will make spring debut Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Blanco (laceration) will play in Thursday's Cactus League game against the Mariners, Kerry Crowley of the Bay Area News Group reports.

The undisclosed open wound that has kept Blanco sidelined for all of exhibition play appears to be fully healed, clearing the way for him to make his Cactus League debut. The 33-year-old will now look to lock down an Opening Day roster spot as the Giants' utility man.

Giants' Andres Blanco: Sidelined another week
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Blanco will be sidelined one week while recovering from an undisclosed open wound, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic Bay Area reports.

Specifics regarding the injury remain unclear, but Blanco will remain on the shelf for at least another week as he waits for the wound to heal. Once healthy, he'll resume his push for an Opening Day roster spot as the Giants' utility man.

Giants' Andres Blanco: Inks minor-league deal with Giants
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Blanco signed a minor-league contract with the Giants on Tuesday, Jon Heyman of FanRagSports.com reports.

The deal includes an invitation to spring training, though Blanco will be given the option to sign overseas if he doesn't break camp with the big-league club. The 33-year-old has spent the previous three seasons filling a utility role for the Phillies, hitting a combined .255/.321/.420 in 276 games over that stretch. His batting average dropped all the way to .192 last season, however, and he was ultimately pushed aside in favor of Pedro Florimon. He'll push to make the Giants' Opening Day roster as a utility man in 2018.

Phillies' Andres Blanco: Unlikely to return to Philly next season
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Phillies will likely part ways with Blanco this offseason, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Blanco has filled a utility role in Philly for the past three seasons, but has received less playing time each year. The team will likely keep Pedro Florimon around to fill a utility role next season.

Phillies' Andres Blanco: Playing time remains limited
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Blanco hit a double in his only at-bat in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Rockies.

Blanco has just 14 at-bats since the All-Star break and is unlikely to see an uptick in playing time unless injuries strike the Phillies in the infield. The veteran has hit just .168 with a .480 OPS in just 107 at-bats this season, so he's not making much of a case for himself.

Phillies' Andres Blanco: Continues to struggle
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Blanco is slashing .156/.232/.211 with one home run in 90 at-bats this season.

The 33-year-old hasn't been over the Mendoza Line since late May and is currently mired in a 1-for-23 slump. Blanco's ability to play all four infield spots provides the Phillies with some flexibility, but his ineffectiveness at the plate and inconsistent opportunities limit his fantasy value.

Phillies' Andres Blanco: Struggling in limited role
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Blanco has nine hits in 50 at-bats with four RBI this season.

Philadelphia's veteran utility infielder is struggling mightily at the plate, and has only three plate appearances over the last nine games. Blanco provides major versatility in that he can play all four infield spots, but the 33-year-old is slashing only .180/.268/.260.

Phillies' Andres Blanco: Batting fifth Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Blanco is batting fifth and playing third base Thursday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

He fills in at the hot corner for Maikel Franco, who's the designated hitter. Blanco squares off with hittable Texas southpaw Martin Perez, giving him a deep sleeper boost in DFS when combined with his advantageous lineup spot. Of course, Blanco is batting just .222/.300/.370 in 30 plate appearances on the year, so temper expectations.

Phillies' Andres Blanco: Produces in limited role
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Blanco went 3-for-11 with one home run and two RBI in 13 plate appearances during the first month of the season.

Blanco has started in just one game this season, though he's seen action in nine others as a replacement. As a 33-year-old on a team currently in rebuilding mode, it makes sense that he does doesn't see many starts. The utility man remains versatile on the infield, however -- he's played shortstop, first base and second base this season.

Phillies' Andres Blanco: Homers Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Blanco went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in a 17-3 win over the Nationals on Saturday.

Blanco entered Saturday's game as a pinch hitter and stayed in to play shortstop with the Phillies up big. The utility infielder has yet to make a start this season, but that is likely coming soon.

Phillies' Andres Blanco: Will be primary utility infielder again this season
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Blanco is a lock for a bench spot with the Phillies, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Blanco saw playing time at all four infield spots with the Phillies last season and even made a start in left. He will again be the team's primary utility infielder, but he has virtually no chance of stepping into a starting role for an extended stretch should any of the guys in front of him get hurt. The Phillies have younger players awaiting opportunities should something open up.

Phillies' Andres Blanco: Signs one-year deal with Phillies
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Blanco signed a one-year, $3 million deal with the Phillies on Wednesday, CSN Philly's Jim Salisbury reports.

He was a replacement level player with the Phillies last season (0.1 fWAR), but he can play all four infield positions, and figures to serve in a utility role once again in 2017. They will hope he can bounce back to something near his 2015 production levels (.292/.360/.502), but that seems highly unlikely.

Andres Blanco: Files for free agency
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Blanco became a free agent Thursday, Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Blanco has been a valuable reserve for the Phillies the past three seasons. He hit .253/.316/.405 with four homers in 190 at-bats and played all four infield positions plus left field last season. The Phillies are expected to have interest in bringing Blanco back this winter.
