Marlins' Curtis Granderson: Seeing limited action
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Granderson remains out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Granderson hasn't made a start since Aug. 21 and will likely be limited to a bench role the rest of the way for what might be his final big-league season. Through 343 plate appearances, the 38-year-old has posted a .643 OPS, by far the worst mark of his career in the category.

Marlins' Curtis Granderson: Idle for first game of doubleheader
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Granderson is out of the lineup for the first game of Monday's doubleheader with the Mets, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Even with his main competition for a spot in the everyday lineup (Cesar Puello) heading to the injured list Monday, Granderson looks like he'll merely be a fourth or fifth outfielder for the rebuilding Marlins. Miami called up Lewis Brinson from Triple-A New Orleans in a corresponding move and will insert him into center field in the series opener, with Harold Ramirez and Brian Anderson flanking him in the outfield. The 25-year-old Brinson should be given every opportunity over the final two months of the season to tap into his considerable upside, likely leaving Granderson in store for only 1-to-3 starts most weeks.

Marlins' Curtis Granderson: Sits again Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Granderson will be on the bench Saturday against the Rays.

Granderson has a poor .622 OPS in the second half, though that's not noticeably worse than the .630 mark he recorded prior to the All-Star break. Harold Ramirez will be the left fielder Saturday.

Marlins' Curtis Granderson: Takes seat Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Granderson is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Granderson will rest for the afternoon game while Cesar Puello enters the lineup, joining Brian Anderson and Harold Ramirez in the outfield. Though he seems to have at least temporarily recaptured primary left-field duties from Puello, the 38-year-old Granderson will likely see his opportunities decline over the final two months of the season as the rebuilding Marlins prioritize at-bats for their younger options. With a .183/.270/.361 slash line across 285 plate appearances this season, Granderson looks to have little left in the tank at this point.

Marlins' Curtis Granderson: Two doubles in loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Granderson went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI in Tuesday's loss to the Twins.

The Marlins only managed four hits on the night, and Granderson had the team's only extra-base hits and RBI. The veteran outfielder's .638 OPS through 91 games is the worst mark of his career, but he might still attract some mild interest at the trade deadline from a contender looking for a battle-tested bench bat.

Marlins' Curtis Granderson: Slugs ninth homer
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Granderson went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run Tuesday against the White Sox.

Granderson made his only hit of the night count as he took Dylan Covey deep in the fourth inning for his ninth home run of the season. With younger outfielders such as Harold Ramirez and Brain Anderson emerging for the team, Granderson has continued to see his role diminish. He hasn't done much to force the team's hand, as he's managed just a .181/.271/.363 line across 269 plate appearances for the season.

Marlins' Curtis Granderson: Pops eighth homer
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Granderson went 1-for-3 with a walk, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Friday's 8-4 win over the Mets.

The veteran outfielder's third-inning blast, his eighth homer of the year, got the Marlins' offense rolling on the night. Granderson has started only four of the last 10 games and hadn't gone yard since June 12, and while Miami seems to value his presence in the locker room, expect him to be flipped to a contender looking for a left-handed bench bat by the trade deadline -- assuming anyone is interested in a 38-year-old with a .648 OPS.

Marlins' Curtis Granderson: Sits again Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Granderson remains on the bench Friday against the Phillies, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Granderson sits for the second game in a row and the fourth time in six games despite all six contests coming against righties. It would certainly make sense if his role continued to shrink, as the rebuilding Marlins have little reason to give playing time to a 38-year-old with a 68 wRC+. Harold Ramirez starts in left field.

June 20, 2019 03:44 PM
Marlins' Curtis Granderson: Sitting out Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Granderson is not in the lineup Thursday against the Cardinals, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Granderson is slashing just .182/.250/.318 with one home run through 15 games this month, so he'll sit for second time in three games as the Marlins go with an outfield consisting of Harold Ramirez, JT Riddle and Cesar Puello in this one.

June 19, 2019 01:24 PM
Marlins' Curtis Granderson: Not in lineup
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Granderson is not starting Tuesday against the Cardinals, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Granderson sits for the second time in three games, with both absences coming against righties. His .179/.268/.348 season slash line certainly doesn't make a great case for a regular role, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him continue to sit frequently in favor of younger bats. Austin Dean starts in left field Tuesday.

June 16, 2019 12:12 PM
Marlins' Curtis Granderson: Not starting Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Granderson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Pirates, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Granderson started three of the last four games but will take a seat for Sunday's series finale. Harold Ramirez will start in left field while JT Riddle enters the lineup in center field.

June 14, 2019 02:16 PM
Marlins' Curtis Granderson: Sits against southpaw
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Granderson is on the bench against lefty Steven Brault and the Pirates on Friday, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Granderson hasn't started against a lefty in over a month. Austin Dean gets the start in left field.

June 13, 2019 07:24 AM
Marlins' Curtis Granderson: Swats seventh homer
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Granderson went 1-for-4 with a walk, a three-run home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 9-0 win over the Cardinals.

It's his seventh homer of the year but first since May 24, with Granderson slashing a poor .159/.229/.205 in 16 games between the long balls. The 38-year-old year is in the twilight of his career, but the Marlins value his veteran leadership and don't exactly have a lot of outfield depth, so expect him to continue getting regular playing time for now.

June 10, 2019 03:12 PM
Marlins' Curtis Granderson: Sitting vs. righty
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Granderson is not in the lineup Monday against the Cardinals, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Granderson finds himself situated on the bench for a second straight day despite the Marlins facing a right-hander in Michael Wacha. There has been no word of any injury at this point. Austin Dean, who went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI in Sunday's loss to the Braves, is starting in left field and batting leadoff in place of Granderson in this one.

June 9, 2019 10:40 AM
Marlins' Curtis Granderson: On bench against lefty
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Granderson will sit against lefty Max Fried and the Braves on Sunday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Granderson has only started three times against southpaws this season and has now sat against the last nine the Marlins have faced. His platoon partner, Austin Dean, gets the call in left field as usual.

June 6, 2019 01:40 PM
Marlins' Curtis Granderson: Sitting for day game
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Granderson is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Brewers, David Wilson of the MIami Herald reports.

Granderson typically serves as the Marlins' leadoff hitter against right-handed pitching, but he'll sit Thursday presumably due to Milwaukee and Miami playing a day game after a night game. Platoon mate Austin Dean will instead set the table for Miami against Brewers righty Freddy Peralta.

June 2, 2019 03:36 PM
Marlins' Curtis Granderson: Stays out versus lefty
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Granderson is out of the lineup for Sunday's series finale at San Diego, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Granderson once again finds himself on the bench with the third straight left-hander -- Matt Strahm -- taking the mound for the Padres. Austin Dean garners another start in left field, batting leadoff.

June 1, 2019 09:36 PM
Marlins' Curtis Granderson: Out against another lefty
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Granderson will remain on the bench Saturday against San Diego, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Granderson will be out of the lineup against the second of three straight lefties, Nick Margevicius. Austin Dean will start in left field.

May 31, 2019 05:48 PM
Marlins' Curtis Granderson: Benched against lefty
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Granderson is not starting Friday against left Joey Lucchesi and the Padres, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Miami faces three straight lefties in San Diego, so expect to see Granderson stuck on the bench. Austin Dean gets the start in left field.

May 29, 2019 02:36 PM
Marlins' Curtis Granderson: Sits vs. southpaw
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Granderson is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Giants, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Granderson will take a seat for Wednesday's game with southpaw Madison Bumgarner toeing the rubber for the Giants. In his place, Austin Dean is starting in left field and hitting leadoff.
