Angel Pagan: Will not play this season
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pagan says he will sit out the entire 2017 season to spend time with family, Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors reports.

The veteran outfielder says he has already turned down multiple minor-league contract offers and simply wants to spend a year outside baseball. Pagan had reached a deal with the Orioles this spring before a failed physical sunk the proposition, but did compete for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic. Although not officially retired, it will be a long road back for the 35-year-old if he does decide to return to the game.

Angel Pagan: Close to signing with MLB team
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Toronto, San Francisco, San Diego, Atlanta and Detroit have all expressed interest in signing Pagan, who's expected to make a decision in the next 48 hours, Jim Bowden of ESPN reports.

It was odd that Pagan went unsigned this winter after he hit a career-high 12 homers while slashing .277/.331/.418 last year. He reportedly failed a physical when close to signing a contract with Baltimore earlier this spring, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports. However, Pagan hit .303 (8-for-31) in seven games for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic, seemingly putting any fears over his health to rest. There's a solid chance that he finds steady playing time once he lands with a new team.

Angel Pagan: Strong showing in WBC
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pagan went 2-for-4 in Wednesday's World Baseball Classic championship game loss to Team USA. He hit .303 (8-for-31) in seven games for Puerto Rico.

Pagan remains a free agent but showed he's worthy of a big league job in the WBC and also showed he's healthy. Pagan was close to signing with Baltimore earlier this spring before failing a physical, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports. Atlanta was reportedly interested in signing Pagan before the WBC started, so it may not be long until he signs with a MLB team.

Giants' Angel Pagan: Remains out Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pagan (back) is not in the lineup Tuesday for Game 4 of the Giants' NLDS matchup with the Cubs.

Pagan was a late scratch Monday due to back spasms, and it appears he is still dealing with soreness, as Gregor Blanco will get the start in left field Tuesday. Pagan may be available off the bench, but he did not play at all Monday despite the game going 13 innings.

Giants' Angel Pagan: Late scratch Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pagan is a late scratch for Monday's matchup with the Cubs due to back spasms, Jayson Stark of ESPN reports.

Pagan was originally slated to bat fifth and play left field, but he has been replaced by Gregor Blanco. No further information is known about the injury.

Giants' Angel Pagan: Smacks 12th homer in Saturday win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pagan went 2-for-3 with a solo homer, two runs and a walk in Saturday's 3-0 victory over the Dodgers.

Pagan broke through against Clayton Kershaw in the fifth with a solo shot that traveled 374 feet and broke a scoreless tie. The veteran outfielder has worked a multi-hit outing in four of his last seven games despite finishing September with a forgettable .190/.252/.295 line. The homer was also his first since Sept. 13 versus the Padres.

Giants' Angel Pagan: Gets night off Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pagan is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Dodgers.

Pagan hasn't had a day off since Sept. 4, and given his .172 batting average since that day, manager Bruce Bochy decided it was a good time to give him another night off. Mac Williamson will take over in left field for the evening.

Giants' Angel Pagan: Snaps three-game hitless streak in style
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pagan went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Pagan came into Friday's game hitless in his last 13 at-bats, but Friday's homer could be a sign he is snapping out of his little funk at the plate. The home run marks his 10th of the season and he has 22 games to try and break his career high of 11. As a whole, Pagan has been a great value when healthy as a fourth or fifth outfielder in most formats considering his cheap (in some cases, free) cost to own.

Giants' Angel Pagan: Out of the lineup Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pagan is out of the lineup Sunday against the Cubs, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Pagan will get his first day off since Aug. 21, giving way to Jarrett Parker in left field. With a three-game set in the high-altitude Coors Field on tap, manager Bruce Bochy will elect to give a few of his regulars a breather Sunday afternoon.

Giants' Angel Pagan: Dealing with hamstring tightness
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pagan went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI in Tuesday's loss to Arizona. Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reported after the game that Pagan is dealing with hamstring tightness.

Manager Bruce Bochy said that Pagan was dealing with hamstring tightness Tuesday night, but it wasn't serious enough to take him out of the game. The news is a bit concerning considering the veteran outfielder's injury history, especially when you take in to account that he already missed time with a hamstring injury this season. The hamstring tightness could affect his running, which is a part of his fantasy game. Pagan has been a valuable asset when healthy, so owners have to continue playing him until the injury forces him out of the lineup.

Giants' Angel Pagan: Smacks ninth homer Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pagan went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Friday's 7-0 win over the Braves.

Pagan saw his 19-game hitting streak come to an end Wednesday, but it doesn't seem like he is ready to cool off quite yet. His two-run home run off of Joel De La Cruz was a no-doubter that went over Levi's Landing in right field. It bears repeating that Pagan has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball this month, collecting 29 hits in 85 August at-bats. More importantly, he is also hitting the ball with authority, posting a .929 OPS in August to go along with the usual high batting average. Owners who picked him when his bat started to show signs of life back in July should continue enjoy the ride. For those who still see Pagan's name on the waiver wire: what are you waiting for?

Giants' Angel Pagan: Returns to lineup after missing one game
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pagan (groin) returned to the lineup Tuesday and went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in the 9-5 loss to the Dodgers.

While Pagan's groin injury wasn't considered serious, it was still concerning given his shaky injury history. It turned out to be a non-issue as he returned to the lineup, extending his 19-game hitting streak in the process. The fragile Pagan could go down again any minute, but as he proved prior to missing Sunday's game, when he is on the field he can be a valuable fantasy asset at the end of your outfield corps.

Giants' Angel Pagan: Batting second Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pagan (groin) will man left field and bat second Tuesday against the Dodgers.

As expected, Pagan will return to his normal spots after missing just one game with a groin strain. Pagan has hit safely in 18 straight games dating back to July 31 and is now just under the .300 mark for the season. He should continue to help drive the offense while batting in the two-hole behind Denard Span.

Giants' Angel Pagan: Back in action Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pagan (groin) will be in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

It's not yet clear what position Pagan will line up at or where he will hit in the Giants' batting order, but he will be back in action after sitting out Sunday's game with a sore groin. Pagan has seen the ball well in August, posting a .368/.456/.529 slash line through 17 games.

Giants' Angel Pagan: Out of Sunday's lineup
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pagan (groin) isn't in the lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Mets.

Pagan's groin injury arose during Saturday's contest, but manager Bruce Bochy suggested that he shouldn't miss extended time. The veteran outfielder will sit out Sunday as expected, but it's possible Pagan will return to action as soon as Tuesday when the Giants head to Los Angeles.

Giants' Angel Pagan: Not expected to miss extended time
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Manager Bruce Bochy said he thinks Pagan (groin) will be able to play Tuesday against the Dodgers, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.

The skipper ruled Pagan out for Sunday's series finale against the Mets after the outfielder suffered a groin strain Saturday, but Bochy expects Pagan to be fine following Monday's off day. Pagan singled prior to exiting Saturday, extending his hitting streak to 18 games.

Giants' Angel Pagan: Leaves Saturday with groin tightness
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pagan left Saturday's game with a right groin tightness.

He extended his hitting streak to 18 before exiting, finishing 1-for-2 on the day. Pagan tends to miss time with minor injuries fairly frequently, but he has not missed time with a groin injury in recent years. Gregor Blanco, who replaced him in left field Saturday, figures to see the bulk of the at-bats if Pagan is forced to miss further time.

Giants' Angel Pagan: Extends hit streak to 17 games
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pagan collected a pair of hits in Friday's win over the Mets, extending his hitting streak to 17 games.

Pagan's hitting streak is the longest active streak in the majors, and he is slashing .352/.439/.507 over that span. Streak aside, Pagan has been an extremely valuable fantasy commodity considering the price it costs to own him. He should continue to be a great source of batting average, runs and steals while he hits second in the Giants' lineup.

Giants' Angel Pagan: Steals 13th base of the season Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pagan went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Pirates.

The Giants have gone into a tailspin in August, but none of the blame can be placed on Pagan who is slashing an impressive .340/.435/.528 this month. Tuesday's steal was his 13th of the season, meaning he's surpassed last year's mark of 12 in 46 fewer games. With outfielders like Giancarlo Stanton and Matt Holiday going down this week, Pagan -- who can't exactly replicate their production -- could be used as a serviceable fill-in if he happens to still be available on waivers.

Giants' Angel Pagan: Out of lineup Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pagan will be held out of the starting lineup for Saturday's matchup with Washington.

Pagan started the last 25 games, but will get a maintenance day Saturday as Gregor Blanco replaces him in left and bats eighth. During that 25-game stretch, Pagan slashed .278/.316/.491 with 12 runs and RBI apiece.
