Bobby Wilson: Moves into coaching
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilson was named the manager of Double-A Frisco in the Rangers system Monday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

The move ends the 36-year-old's playing career. While Wilson never played more than 75 big-league games in a season, he did finish with 386 total games in the majors split over 10 seasons. He'll retire with a career .203/.258/.304 slash line and 18 homers, having appeared at the highest level for the Angels, Diamondbacks, Rays, Rangers, Tigers and Twins.

Tigers' Bobby Wilson: Outrighted to Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilson cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

Wilson was removed from the roster to clear a spot for catching prospect Jake Rogers. He'll remain in an organizational depth role for the Tigers.

Tigers' Bobby Wilson: To be waived Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilson will be waived by the Tigers on Tuesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Wilson was reportedly placed on outright waivers by Detroit on Saturday, though there is a 72-hour window for other teams around the league to claim him. If he's still unclaimed by Tuesday afternoon, Wilson will have the option of being assigned to Triple-A Toledo or becoming a free agent, per McCosky.

Tigers' Bobby Wilson: On bench Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilson is not in the lineup for Friday's game at Kansas City.

Wilson has a .351 OPS in nine starts since joining the Tigers in mid-June in the wake of Grayson Greiner (back) heading to the injured list. John Hicks will serve as Friday's catcher and has started four of the last five games.

Tigers' Bobby Wilson: On bench again
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

Wilson went 1-for-3 with his first two RBI of the season while starting at catcher in Saturday's 10-6 loss. Though he's acted as the primary backstop since Grayson Greiner (back) landed on the injured list, Wilson will give way to John Hicks behind the dish for the third time in four games Sunday.

Tigers' Bobby Wilson: Takes seat Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilson is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Red Sox.

Wilson remains on the bench for the second straight game as he is 3-for-25 in eight games since his contract was selected in mid-June. John Hicks will start behind the plate and bat eighth for the Tigers.

Tigers' Bobby Wilson: Heads to bench
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilson is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the White Sox, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Since Wilson was behind the dish for the nightcap of Wednesday's doubleheader, he'll be given Thursday off with the series finale beginning at 2:10 p.m. EDT. John Hicks will spell Wilson as the Tigers' catcher.

Tigers' Bobby Wilson: Sitting in early game
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilson is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the White Sox.

John Hicks will draw the starting nod behind the dish, but Wilson is expected to re-enter the lineup at catcher for the second game of the day. He'll work in a battery with lefty Tyler Alexander, who was called up from Triple-A Toledo to make his MLB debut.

Tigers' Bobby Wilson: Not in Wednesday's lineup
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilson is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Rangers, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

He is 2-for-14 with three strikeouts over his first four MLB games this season. John Hicks starts behind the dish, hitting eighth.

Tigers' Bobby Wilson: Set for season debut Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilson is starting at catcher and batting eighth in Sunday's game against Cleveland.

Wilson had his contract selected from Triple-A Toledo ahead of Saturday's game, and now he'll get into the lineup for the first time this season. The 36-year-old catcher struggled last year with a .178/.242/.281 slash line in 47 games with the Twins, but with Grayson Greiner (back) on the injured list, Wilson should pick up a few starts as the backup to John Hicks behind the plate.

Tigers' Bobby Wilson: Headed to big leagues
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilson will have his contract selected from Triple-A Toledo ahead of Saturday's game against the Indians.

Wilson is set to get another shot in the big leagues after struggling to a .178/.242/.281 slash line over 47 games a season ago while with the Twins. He'll serve as the backup catcher to John Hicks after Grayson Greiner (back) was placed on the injured list.

Tigers' Bobby Wilson: Winds up back with Tigers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilson signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Sunday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Wilson was let go Saturday but will remain in the organization. He's expected to report to Triple-A Toledo and could be an option if injuries strike the Tigers' big-league catchers.

Bobby Wilson: Parts ways with Detroit
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Tigers released Wilson on Saturday, a source told Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Grayson Greiner and John Hicks opened spring training as the Tigers' top two backstops, leaving Wilson to compete with fellow non-roster invitee Cameron Rupp for No. 3 catcher duties. It's not clear if Detroit actually intends to carry three catchers on its Opening Day roster, but in any event, Rupp evidently edged ahead of Wilson in the pecking order. The 35-year-old Wilson will now look to latch on with another organization, likely on a minor-league contract.

Tigers' Bobby Wilson: Inks deal with Tigers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilson signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Tuesday, Emily Waldon of The Athletic reports.

Wilson will report to Triple-A Toledo. The veteran backstop appeared in 47 games for the Twins in 2018, slashing .178/.242/.281 with two homers in 47 games. He figures to serve as organizational catching depth in 2019.

Cubs' Bobby Wilson: Activated from DL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilson (ankle) was reinstated from the 10-day disabled list prior to Friday's game, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Wilson had been sidelined since Aug. 23 due to a major right ankle bruise that forced him to spend some time on crutches. He was dealt to Chicago from Minnesota in late August, so he's yet to play for his current club. It's unlikely that Wilson receives any time on the field this weekend during a huge three-game set with St. Louis, especially with Willson Contreras and Victor Caratini ahead of him on the depth chart at his position. On the year, Wilson has slashed .178/.242/.281 with two home runs in 47 games.

Cubs' Bobby Wilson: Dealt to Cubs
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilson (ankle) was traded to the Cubs from Minnesota on Thursday in exchange for Chris Gimenez and a player to be named later or cash considerations, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Wilson is currently on the disabled list with a right ankle bruise, but he will be eligible to come off the shelf Monday. He will add a little extra catching depth behind Willson Contreras and Victor Carartini. Across 47 games this year, Wilson has hit .178/.242/.281 with two home runs and 16 RBI.

Twins' Bobby Wilson: Moves to disabled list
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilson was placed on the 10-day disabled list Friday with a right ankle bruise, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

The move is unsurprising as Wilson was seen using crutches after sustaining the injury during Thursday's game. Mitch Garver should serve as the Twins' primary catcher in the meantime, but Willians Astudillo -- recalled in a corresponding move Friday -- could also see some time behind the plate.

Twins' Bobby Wilson: May hit disabled list
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilson (ankle) was seen using crutches after Friday's game and may require a DL stint, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.

Wilson suffered the injury Thursday trying to cover first base when he accidentally tripped over a bat. The fact that he was on crutches suggests he'll need at least a couple days before returning to action, but a DL stint is certainly in the realm of possibility. Mitch Garver will take on the bulk of the catching duties as long as Wilson is sidelined.

Twins' Bobby Wilson: Suffers ankle sprain
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilson was diagnosed with a right ankle sprain Thursday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

The Twins' catching depth will be tested if Wilson is to miss time beyond Thursday. He suffered the injury backing up first base and appeared to tweak his ankle. Mitch Garver is the lone true catcher on the active roster beyond Wilson.

Twins' Bobby Wilson: Leaves with possible ankle injury
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilson left Thursday's game against the A's with an apparent lower leg injury, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Mitch Garver has taken over behind the dish after Wilson appeared to injure his foot or ankle trying to cover first base earlier in the contest. He initially stayed in the game, but was eventually replaced. Wilson should be considered day-to-day heading into the weekend, and if he's held out beyond Thursday, Garver would be the only healthy option for the Twins at catcher.
