Martin Prado: Retires after 14 seasons
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Prado announced his retirement Wednesday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

Prado has come a long way since making his major-league debut with the Braves in April 2006. The third baseman played for four different teams, spending the majority of his career with Atlanta before playing his last five seasons with Miami. The 2010 All-Star selection owns a career .287/.335/.412 line and was often praised for being an excellent leader in the clubhouse. Prado will be remembered for his consistent production, playing in 1,458 MLB games before calling it quits at age 36.

Martin Prado: Intends to retire
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Prado intends to retire this offseason, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

If this is indeed the end of the line for the 36-year-old, he'll wrap up a 14-year big-league career split between the Braves, Diamondbacks, Yankees and Marlins. A one-time All-Star (back in 2010), he'll finish his career with a .287/.335/.412 line, grabbing 1,542 hits and 100 homers while starting at every position in the field except catcher and center field.

Marlins' Martin Prado: Not getting much work
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Prado remains out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Dodgers, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Since he was reinstated from the 10-day injured list July 18, Prado has picked up only five starts and just 37 at-bats in total. The lack of steady work isn't a surprising development given Prado's status as a veteran player on an expiring deal and the rebuilding Marlins' decision to prioritize younger options. Expect Prado's action to remain limited over the final six weeks of the season while Garrett Cooper and Starlin Castro act as the Marlins' everyday options at the two corner-infield spots.

Marlins' Martin Prado: Returns from IL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Marlins reinstated Prado (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Thursday, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Prado was on the IL for just over a month with the strained right hamstring, the same injury that kept him on the shelf for portions of 2017 and 2018, too. The Marlins are apparently comfortable with Prado's health after he completed a six-game minor-league rehab stint, but don't expect the 35-year-old to claim an everyday role now that he's back with the big club. The rebuilding squad will continue to prioritize its younger infield options the rest of the season, limiting Prado mostly to bench duty.

Marlins' Martin Prado: Sixth rehab game on tap
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Prado (hamstring) is scheduled to play in his sixth minor-league rehab game Tuesday and could be activated from the 10-day injured list later this week, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Prado has played five times in the past six days, with his first three appearances coming at High-A Jupiter before he shifted his rehab assignment to Double-A Jacksonville on Sunday. After Tuesday's contest, Prado will part ways with Jacksonville, but it's unclear if he'll be summoned back from the 10-day injured list or if the Marlins will assign him to a different affiliate to continue his rehab. Prado, who has gone 4-for-13 with three walks through five games in the minors, is expected to fill a utility role for the Marlins once activated from the IL.

Marlins' Martin Prado: Starting rehab assignment
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Prado (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Jupiter on Wednesday, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Prado has been out with a hamstring injury for nearly a month. He should be back early in the second half if his rehab assignment proceeds smoothly.

Marlins' Martin Prado: Lands on injured list
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Prado (hamstring) landed on the 10-day injured list Friday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Prado left Wednesday's game against the Cardinals with right hamstring tightness and will miss at least 10 days. He's suffered similar injuries on several occasions over the last few seasons, so there's a chance he requires a longer absence. Yadiel Rivera was called up to take his place on the roster.

Marlins' Martin Prado: Likely headed to IL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Prado (hamstring) will likely be placed on the injured list before Friday's game against the Pirates, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

He left Wednesday's game with right hamstring tightness, and the Marlins are already bracing for a multi-week absence. Prado has already landed on the injured list seven times over the past two seasons, suffering from right hamstring strains, left quad strains and a left abdominal strain. Yadiel Rivera will likely be promoted from Triple-A as the corresponding move when Prado is placed on the injured list.

Marlins' Martin Prado: Suffers hamstring injury
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Prado exited Wednesday's game against the Cardinals with right hamstring tightness, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Prado sustained the injury running out a groundball during the third inning Wednesday. The 35-year-old should be considered day-to-day, and he will have Thursday's scheduled off day to recover before this weekend's series versus the Pirates.

Marlins' Martin Prado: Exits Wednesday's game
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Prado was removed from Wednesday's game versus the Cardinals with an apparent leg injury, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Prado pulled up while running out a groundball during the third inning and did not retake the field for the following frame. Austin Dean entered the lineup in his stead and will play the outfield, shifting Brian Anderson to third base.

Marlins' Martin Prado: Back to bench role
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Prado is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Brewers, David Wilson of the Miami Herald reports.

After going 4-for-10 while starting three straight games over the weekend following Neil Walker's (quadriceps) placement on the 10-day injured list, Prado appeared in line to serve as the Marlins' primary first baseman. Manager Don Mattingly has since pivoted from that plan, however, as Prado has been benched for each of the Marlins' three games in Milwaukee. Garrett Cooper has instead been covering first base in Prado's stead, with JT Riddle taking over Cooper's spot in the outfield.

Marlins' Martin Prado: Filling in for Walker
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Prado will start at first base and bat sixth Sunday against the Padres, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Prado will enter the lineup for the third straight contest in place of top first baseman Neil Walker (quadriceps), who was moved to the injured list. Walker's absence for at least the next week should continue to open up steady at-bats for Prado, but the 35-year-old offers limited fantasy appeal at this stage of his career. He's hitting just .233 with one home run and no steals across 140 plate appearances on the season.

Marlins' Martin Prado: Sitting Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Prado is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals, David Wilson of the Miami Herald reports.

Prado started three of the past four games, but the 35-year-old doesn't look to be anything more than a short-side platoon player at this point. That role typically doesn't hold much value in most season-long formats, particularly when Prado remains a part of the baseball's least-productive offense in terms of season wRC+ (67).

Marlins' Martin Prado: Remains on bench
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Prado remains on the bench Tuesday against the Rays, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Prado sits for the second game in a row, with Brian Anderson starting at third base. Anderson may be forced to make the majority of his starts at third going forward (at Prado's expense) due to the return of Garrett Cooper and the debut of Harold Ramirez.

Marlins' Martin Prado: Out of lineup
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Prado will be on the bench Saturday against the Mets, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Prado is hitting just .233/.244/.279 in his last 12 games. Brian Anderson moves in to third base, with Garrett Cooper getting the call in right field.

Marlins' Martin Prado: Heads to bench
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Prado is not starting Wednesday against the Cubs, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Prado sits after starting seven of the last eight games. Neil Walker starts at first base, with Brian Anderson at third.

Marlins' Martin Prado: Not in lineup
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Prado is not starting Saturday against the Braves, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Prado is hitting just .194 over his last 10 games. Jon Berti gets the call at third base.

Marlins' Martin Prado: Nails first homer
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Prado went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 6-2 loss to the Indians on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old possesses a sparkling .320 batting average while being a part-time player early this season, but he hasn't contributed much in the other offensive categories. The bomb Wednesday was his first homer of the year, and he also has just five RBI and five runs in 50 at-bats. Last season, Prado had one home run in 197 at-bats, so owners shouldn't expect a sudden power surge from Prado after Wednesday's homer.

Marlins' Martin Prado: Third start in four games
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Prado will start at third base and bat second Saturday against the Nationals, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Prado will be in the lineup for the third time in four games after filling in for Neil Walker at first base Tuesday and Wednesday versus the Cubs. He'll move across the diamond this time around in place of Brian Anderson, who shifts to right field. With the Marlins demoting Austin Dean to Triple-A New Orleans Saturday, Anderson could play in the outfield on a regular basis, which would likely open up steady at-bats for Prado at the hot corner.

Marlins' Martin Prado: Solid start to season
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Prado went 0-for-4 in Tuesday's loss to the Cubs.

It's the first time since Opening Day that Prado has been in the starting lineup and not collected a hit. The veteran has posted a .400/.438/.500 slash line through 12 games with three doubles and two RBI, and while he doesn't offer much power upside, Prado could sustain a solid batting average while seeing most of his playing time against left-handed pitching.
