Orioles' Brad Brach: Converts 18th save with Britton sidelined
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brach walked one and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning to earn his 18th save in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Rays.

Brach retired the first two batters, but things got complicated when a walk and a J.J. Hardy error put the tying run on base. He was able to escape by getting Kevin Kiermaier to fly out to left, thus notching his 18th save to go with six blown saves. Brach should continue to serve as the closer with Zach Britton (knee) day-to-day.

Orioles' Manny Machado: Launches 33rd home run despite illness
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Machado went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Rays.

Machado's two-run shot in the first inning made it 2-0 before Rays starter Matt Andriese could record a single out. The star slugger was almost kept out of the lineup due to an illness, but manager Buck Showalter's decision to dress Machado paid off big time in what ended as a two-run victory. While a slow start had the infielder slashing just .238/.306/.426 back on July 29, Machado's season line is up to .264/.318/.487 now.

Orioles' Gabriel Ynoa: Eight innings of one-run ball Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Ynoa (2-2) earned the win with a masterful performance Thursday against the Rays, allowing just one run on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts over eight innings.

Ynoa's K/9 fell from 7.61 at the start to 6.54, but he'll still be ecstatic with this effort considering his ERA dropped from 4.18 to 3.41. The 24-year-old righty always posted atrocious strikeout numbers while coming up through the Mets organization, so he's never going to be much of a contributor in that category. Length also seemed to be an issue for Ynoa after he failed to get through five innings in either of his first two starts with Baltimore, but this efficient 94-pitch outing gives him hope in that department. He'll get a road rematch with these same Rays in what should be his final appearance of the season next Friday.

Orioles' Manny Machado: '50-50' to play Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Machado (illness) is in the lineup, but could be scratched following a pre-game workout as manager Buck Shower said he's only "50-50" to play Thursday against Tampa Bay, Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com.

Although Machado was initially plugged into Baltimore's lineup, it appears as though it's up in the air as to whether he will actually stay there. The third baseman missed Wednesday's game due to an illness, but is hitting second at his normal position for Thursday's contest. There will likely be an update regarding his status within the next hour.

Orioles' Tim Beckham: Held out again Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beckham (mouth) is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rays.

Beckham will miss a second straight game after getting a wisdom tooth removed. In his place, JJ Hardy draws another start at shortstop. Beckham should be considered day-to-day ahead of Friday's affair.
