Reds' Jared Mitchell: Agrees to terms with Cincinnati
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Mitchell signed a minor-league deal with the Reds on Wednesday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.

Mitchell played in the Independent Atlantic League this past summer, and hasn't been with a major-league organization since 2016 when he played 20 games for Double-A Trenton in the Yankees' system. He will likely begin next spring with the Reds' Double-A or Triple-A affiliate, although it seems unlikely that the 29-year-old will finally break into the majors next year.

Reds' Kyle Crockett: Inks minor-league deal with Reds
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Crockett agreed to a minor-league contract with the Reds on Monday, Zach Buchanan of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

The deal includes an invitation to spring training. It's been a busy couple of weeks for Crockett, as he was non-tendered by the Reds last week just days after the team claimed him off waivers from the Indians. The 25-year-old southpaw spent most of his time with Triple-A Columbus last season but has made major-league appearances in each of the last four seasons, compiling a respectable 3.12 FIP over 65.1 major-league innings during that stretch. Look for him to compete for an Opening Day spot in the Reds' bullpen.

Reds' Anthony DeSclafani: Feeling good after instructional league
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

DeSclafani (elbow) said he threw all his pitches during instructional league games in Arizona and feels he'll be ready for the start of spring training, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

DeSclafani was limited to a pair of minor-league rehab appearances in 2017 while battling a UCL sprain in his right elbow last spring that prevented him from toeing the rubber for the MLB club at any point. He was shut down while rehabbing after experiencing tendinitis, but his strong showing during instructionals set the right-hander up for a normal offseason. The Reds are hopeful that DeSclafani, who is eligible for arbitration this winter, will re-emerge as an anchor for the rotation in 2018.
