Twins' Trevor May: Throws from 105 feet
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

May (elbow) threw 75 throws from 105 feet on Monday, according to his personal Twitter account.

He was working on throwing from 60 feet back in August, so it sounds like he is continuing to progress in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, which he had in March. It is unclear when he will be ready for game action, but he could open the year on the DL.

Twins' Miguel Sano: Undergoes surgery Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Sano successfully underwent surgery on his shin Monday.

As expected, Sano had a procedure to alleviate pain that had been coming from a stress fracture in his left shin. The estimated timeframe for his recovery is around eight weeks, so he should be back in full health once spring training arrives.

Twins' Adalberto Mejia: Lasts two innings
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Mejia allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits and struck out two batters Thursday in his Dominican Winter League debut, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Mejia didn't pitch well during his first start of the Dominican Winter League, although he's likely shaking some of the rust off. The 24-year-old posted a 4.50 ERA in 2017 for the Twins over 98 innings pitched and earned a spot in Minnesota's starting rotation. The good news is that Mejia is still young and has plenty of time to improve. He'll look to have a better outing in his second start of winter league play.

Twins' LaMonte Wade: Suffers concussion in AFL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wade was diagnosed with concussion-like symptoms after colliding with a teammate in an Arizona Fall League game, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

The game was delayed several minutes while Wade, 23, lay on the outfield grass. He was eventually removed from the game on a stretcher, but he gave the thumbs-up sign and appears to have escaped any serious physical injury.

Twins' Chris Gimenez: Outrighted off 40-man
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Gimenez cleared waivers and was outrighted off the Twins' 40-man roster Monday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Gimenez appeared in 77 games as the Twins' backup catcher in 2017, hitting .220/.350/.382 with seven homers. The 34-year-old can refuse his outright assignment and become a free agent. He won't serve as anything more than a backup wherever he winds up in 2018.
