Cardinals' Tommy Pham: Returns to lineup Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pham (groin) is back in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets, Jim Hayes of FOX Sports Midwest reports.

Pham had been out of the lineup for three of the last four games while battling a minor groin injury. He'll bat second and play center field Tuesday. The 30-year-old is off to a hot start this season, hitting .318/.444/.455 through 19 games, with a pair of homers and five steals. He's also increased his walk rate from an already-high 13.4 percent last year to 18.5 percent so far this season, the 10th-highest figure in the league among qualified hitters.

Cardinals' Austin Gomber: Ties franchise single-game strikeout record
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Gomber (2-0) racked up a career-high 16 strikeouts and allowed six hits over eight scoreless innings in Triple-A Memphis' 3-0 win over Iowa on Monday.

Gomber's whiff total also tied a franchise record for most strikeouts in a single game, Oliver Macklin of MLB.com reports. The promising prospect fired 85 of 112 pitches for strikes while lowering his ERA from 3.57 to 2.45 through his first three starts against Triple-A bats.

Cardinals' Bud Norris: Works eighth inning Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Norris fired a scoreless eighth inning in a win over the Reds on Sunday, recording a strikeout.

The de facto closer for the time being worked the eighth Sunday with the Cardinals holding a comfortable lead, as manager Mike Matheny experimented with having Greg Holland work the ninth for only the second time this season. Norris was as impressive as he's often been in higher-leverage scenarios, needing just eight pitches -- six which he threw for strikes -- to wrap up his sole frame. It remains to be seen if Matheny will still revert to Norris, who's a perfect 5-for-5 in save opportunities, the next time he needs a win closed out.

Cardinals' Greg Garcia: Timely two-bagger in Sunday's win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Garcia smacked a pinch-hit two-run double and scored in a win over the Reds on Sunday.

The valued utility man came through in the eighth with his third double of the season, bringing home Kolten Wong and Harrison Bader to extend the Cardinals' lead to 8-2. Garcia is enjoying a hot start at the plate, as he's now hitting .320 with five extra-base hits (three doubles, two home runs), six RBI, four walks and seven runs over his first 30 plate appearances.

Cardinals' Yadier Molina: Another multi-hit day Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Molina went 3-for-4 with an RBI from a sacrifice fly while also smacking a double and scoring twice in a win over the Reds on Sunday.

The red-hot backstop was at it again in the series finale against the Reds, finishing off a stellar three-game set. Molina went 6-for-11 with two doubles, a home run, four RBI, a walk and three runs during that stretch, bumping his average from .277 to .316 in the process. Moreover, with yet another RBI on Sunday, Molina pushed his team-leading total to 16.
