Rays' Cody Hall: Inks deal with Rays
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hall signed a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training with Tampa Bay on Friday, Marc Topkin of The Tampa Bay Times reports.

Hall played 25 games for Double-A Richmond in the Giants' system in 2017, posting a 2.79 ERA and 40:12 K:BB over 29 relief innings. The soon-to-be 30-year-old has only pitched in nine major-league games in his professional career, with the latest coming in 2016 with the Marlins. Although Hall will likely begin the season in Triple-A, the right-hander could find his way to the big leagues if he's able to replicate his form from last year.

Rays' Curtis Taylor: Shipped to Tampa Bay
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Taylor was traded to the Rays in exchange for reliever Brad Boxberger on Thursday.

Taylor amassed a 3.32 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with Low-A Kane County in 13 starts (62.1 innings) last season, but did miss the last month and a half with a shoulder impingement. The 22-year-old is expected to begin the 2018 season with a clean bill of health, but will likely remain in one of the lower tiers of the minors while he continues to develop.

Rays' Micah Johnson: Claimed by Rays
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson was claimed off waivers by the Rays on Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Johnson, who is coming off an injury-shortened 2017 campaign, will join his fourth team this offseason after being designated for assignment by the Giants last week (he was previously with the Braves and Reds before his brief stint with San Francisco). While he only appeared in 40 games with Triple-A Gwinnett last season due to a fractured wrist, Johnson hit a respectable .289/.377/.400 there. He hasn't been able to find any tangible success at the major-league level, however, slashing just .224/.291/.259 in 61 games. Still, he'll look to fight for a role as the Rays' utility man in 2018.
