Rangers' Keone Kela: Stays perfect with 16th save
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Kela struck out a batter and recorded a perfect ninth for his 16th save Monday against Kansas City.

Kela now has 31 strikeouts in 25.1 innings to go with 16 saves in as many chances, and this appearance brought his ERA down to 3.91. He has had a couple of rough outings -- April 20 against Seattle (0.1 IP, 3 ER) and May 1 against Cleveland (1 IP, 4 ER) -- that account for the majority of his earned runs in 2018. Kela owns a 2.35 ERA since May 5, a stretch that includes his last 15 appearances.

Rangers' Bartolo Colon: Snags fourth win Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Colon (4-4) allowed three runs on nine hits and a walk with one strikeout through six innings in a win Monday over the Royals.

Colon pitched to contact and was able to survive by limiting the Royals to just two extra-base hits, a double and a triple. This marks his first quality start since May 26, which also came against the Royals. With Kansas City owning one of the worst lineups in the American League, that may not be a coincidence. Colon doesn't miss bats in his old age. He'll carry just a 5.5 K/9 and a 4.91 ERA into his next start Sunday against the Twins.

Rangers' Deck McGuire: Designated for assignment
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

McGuire was designated for assignment Monday, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

McGuire had been claimed by the Rangers off waivers Friday and was immediately optioned to Triple-A Round Rock. If he clears waivers, he'll likely remain at the same level. The move opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for the return of Elvis Andrus (elbow) from the 60-day disabled list.

Trevino was up for the Rangers' weekend series against the Rockies, appearing in all three games and going 2-for-8. He'll be sent back to Double-A, the level he was at when originally promoted. Reliever Ricardo Rodriguez was called up in a corresponding move.
