The Dublin crowd was fired up throughout the Bellator 270 card on Friday evening, chanting and singing along with the action. Unfortunately for the Irish faithful, their hometown fighter couldn't pull off the win in the main event as Peter Queally fell to Patricky Pitbull by TKO in the second round, sending Pitbull home with the lightweight championship.

The crowd was so enthusiastic ahead of the main event that their singing along to Queally's entrance music of "Zombie" by The Cranberries carried on after the song had stopped, drowning out ring announcer Michael C. Williams during pre-fight introductions.

The bout was a rematch of May clash that Queally won by TKO after Pitbull suffered a cut on his scalp. The information gathered in that fight was on display early, with Queally looking to check the leg kicks that had served Pitbull so well in the first fight. Pitbull responded by dropping heavy body punches to set up punches to the head.

Queally became the leg kicker in the fight, driving heavy kicks to the lead leg of Pitbull and causing visible bruising and swelling as the Irish crowd continued to sing through the entirety of the first round.

The second round opened with an accidental eye poke by Queally, leading to a lengthy break to allow Pitbull to recover. Pitbull not only recovered but came out of the break with explosive striking. As Queally stepped in, Pitbull unloaded with a heavy overhand right that dropped Queally.

Pitbull continued to pour on the attack as Queally tumbled around the cage, trying to regain his legs. Unfortunately for Queally and the hometown crowd, Pitbull did not take his foot off the gas, landing right hand after right hand as Queally covered up against the cage. The referee was forced to step in and stop the fight at the 1:05 mark of Round 2.

The lightweight championship was available to be won thanks to Pitbull's younger brother, Patricio, who had vacated the title to give Patricky the chance to become Bellator champion after a lengthy career in the promotion.

Pitbull made the most of the opportunity and kept the belt in the family.
